Here in Brazil, Silva is the second bigges thing now. Only Neymar is above him.

I must say I wish that what Ed Soares said was a true statement but it is simply bulls*it and he knows it.

Tell you more. Little more than a year ago, nobody (sure not literally, but maybe 90%) in Brazil would not even know Anderson Silva and for sure nobody would care if he was winning or losing.

MMA in Brazil is widely shadowed by Soccer, like other sports are as well, but with an extra downside: Prejudice. MMA events were forbidden in some cities for a long time, including Rio thanks to lots of factors and actions of some so called "pit boys"(amateur fighters gang members - trouble makers) who use to terrorize "civilians" and fight during MMA events, not in the cage, though.

Only now, after UFC coming back to Brazil and some transmissions via open TV ppl are getting more acquainted to the sport due to heavy promotion.

Even now, to compare Anderson's popularity in Brazil to Lebron or Kobe in America is ridiculous, because Ed is trying to sell to the world Brazilians would care about MMA the same proportion Amercans would care about Basketball, what is a utter lie, to say the least.

Wasn't there a poll where Brazilian fans ended like Fedor more than any other MMA fighter?

Amazing the kid is only 20 years old. I'm a big believer that success should begin in the mid 20's and 30's at a more mature age. When you're making millions, gaining huge sponsors, and have the entire world see you in the spotlight it's an immense amount of pressure.

Anderson on the other hand knows what hardship is because he didn't achieve super stardom til he was 31 so he'll carry himself in a more modest way. Also look at what he just did for the UFC to save the card in Brazil. If you really think about it. He had ZERO upsides in taking the fight. The LHW title holder is already declining fights and it's already came back at em.

Anderson took the fight, did what he always does like it was another day at the golf course.

Kobe could make 205.

Derrick Rose could make 185.

And on the flip side, Earl Boykins could probably make 125.

I wonder if Earl would be faster than MM..

I always wanted to see Tayshaun Prince in MMA cos the guy would have the most ridiculous height and reach for a 205lber, Ben Wallace would be a badass HW.

Yeah Earl's a little beast. Ron and Kobe both have decent hands I believe.
