What would him resigning accomplish professionally if his goal wasn't to get back to the top? A paycheck..?

Probably not. But why not have the mindset that you can? You never know.

Rampage beat Hendo (current #1 contender). Rampage out pointed Machida (the only LHW to really best JBJ for a round; Vitor being the second, but a MW).

If either of those fighters were to take the belt off Jones in a rematch, does Rampage not stand a chance? The data says he does; and so does his twitter feed.

How far would the current champs have come if they thought: "Man I can't hang with these guys. I'm just going to show up until I'm cut from the roster."
