i hear everyone saying that Reem embarrassed lesnar and sent him back to the wwe but imo the loss wasnt that bad it was actually a little anti clamatic. Just a liver kick albeit brutal, but it wasnt like he got KTFO in embarrassing fashion or anything.

agree/disagree?

Disagree. Overeem did to Lesnar what Lesnar is only able to do to his opponents due to his size advantage, he bullied him. Lesnar could do nothing against an opponent who is physically as strong as he is (unlike Dos Santos, Velasquez, Silva, Edgar etc. who are able to win against physically stronger opponents with their technique) and got just pushed around in the cage, ate some knees and then got shut down with a kick to the body. So without his raw power advantage Lesnar has not much to offer at elite level MMA. Not reacting well to get hit in the face doesn't help him either.

???????
Saying "just a liver kick albeit brutal" is equal to saying "just a overhand bomb albeit brutal".
What's the difference? If Overeem had finished him with his hands it would have somehow been more of a dominating performance?

The only reason the fight was anti-climactic is because Overeem finished him so quickly and Brock did so little.

No, Overeem pretty much owned him, badly.

But, the reality is, diverticulitis ruined Lesnar, Cain, Overeem, and to an extent, Carwin just finished him off.

It's obvious Lesnar was never the same after battling through diverticulitis two times. Before he went through all that, he never second guessed himself, or was scared to get hit. For whatever reason having his life change like that, and the possibility of never being the same, it really messed him up mentally for the fighting game.

You can definitely tell he was more timid in the striking exchanges after the surgery.

Lesnars loss to Overeem was bad....real bad. I sympathise that his disease left him never to be the same again in MMA. But it also illustrated an emabaressingly poor level of standup from Brock, he knew he only had the takedown as his saving grace, but he never even got close to impimenting that gameplan.

That loss was VERY bad for Lesnar.

I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist nut and I personally don't think Brock had any disease.

DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!

I think Brock realised that he didn't have that burning passion for the sport like the other contenders did and came to the realisation that he didn't have what it took to compete at the most elite level.

How ever, how could the ultimate alpha male bad ass disappear from the MMA spectrum without looking like.....well a bit of a wuss and ruining his intimidating reputation.

A disease. A disease which is supposed to massively hinder Brocks performance. A disease that's so bad it stopped him from competing in MMA, but didn't hinder his ability to fly from top ropes and turn buckles in a WWE wrestling ring.

These idiotic threads have to stop. Lesnar's loss to Overeem was a complete and total failure, worse than the loss to Cain. He was shut down from the opening bell. Brock spent most of the fight backpedaling in fear of Reem, and when he got hit you could see the panic in his eyes and body language. It was an embarrassing soul-destroying loss and his immediate retirement is proof of that.

Of course his illness did cause a massive decline in his ability but I think he would have been shut down regardless of his illness or not due to his inability to take punishment. If Brock would have gone straight from college into MMA I truly believe he could have been one of the greatest heavyweights to ever compete.

Instead he's just going to be remembered as the brightest candle that fizzled out quickly.

Personally I thought the loss to Cain was worse. Mostly because I think against Cain, Brock really did show up to win (and get paid) but failed. Where as against Reem he just showed up to get paid and retire. Everybody knew Brock's chances againt Reem in a kickboxing match were horrible but yet thats basically all he did except for one weak take down attempt.

Ok, as a kickboxer I can honestly say the loss wasn't that bad. Honestly I don't find it reasonable to expect Lesnar to be able to strike with Overeem. Overeem's kick was text-book. The angle he uses on that kick is exactly what you use to slip past defenses and still land with power. I don't think anyone could have endured getting kicked that hard.

lol, you guys pretty much said everything I would have said about the loss. As you all said it was a bad loss for Brock. He didn't muster any offense at all, was on the defensive the whole fight, and got stopped in the opening round.

The reason reem was bleeding was from a fingernail lol. Brock was a classic bully. he was exposed by Randy, Carwin killed him & it should had been stopped & he only won cuz Carwin gassed horribly, Cain then murders Brock again & it was mercifully stopped, & reem dominated the fight with striking, spacing & footwork. He never got in range to let Brock get a chance to shoot. What do you think jds who is a great sprawl & brawl guy do to Brock? To answer your question I disagree lol.

Excellent point rauno. Carwin was obviously the lesser prepared but it could had very well been stopped. That's at the discretion of the ref. Like the wand/Franklin fight you let champs & veterans fight thru it. the blueprint was made with Randy though. Brock didn't like getting hit. He flinches & puts his head down & his hand up. Bad mix for heavy hitters like Carwin, Cain, Reem, & Jds.

The truth about this fight is that we don't know physically or even skillwise how the two men match up because Lesnar was defeated before he ever stepped into the cage that night. That second bout with diverticulitis and having part of his intestine removed shattered his confidence. That was not the same man who entered the UFC.

Lesnar and Term are two of my least favorite fighters, but Brock was getting stomped in that fight, he was seriously outclassed.
