Ryan Bader: Rampage should be ashamed of himself.
Quote:
Two light-heavyweight contenders weighed in on the upcoming Jon Jones vs. Chael Sonnen matchup and they were somewhat split.
Phil Davis and Ryan Bader were guests on UFC Central Radio on Sportsnet 590 The Fan last week and were asked about what they thought about Jones and Sonnen serving on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter.
"My first thought was, "Wow, that will be entertaining,'" Davis told Showdown Joe Ferraro. “On the one side you have the champ ... on the other side you have the guy who claims he’s the champ when he’s clearly not the champ, Chael Sonnen. He’ll make any TV show not only funny but definitely worth watching. I’m pumped up to watch. And if I was a fan, I would be thrilled."
Bader meanwhile said he saw it coming, but he believes there are drawbacks to the move.
"I wasn’t really surprised. You hear the Ultimate Fighter has been slipping," Bader said. "I knew eventually Chael Sonnen would talk himself into a title shot. I just didn’t think it would be that soon. It’s a smart business move, I don’t think it’s smart as far as how the division plays out (in terms of) people who are next in line who deserve the title shot."
As for the matchup between Jones and Sonnen, which is set to take place in April, the two also had slightly different viewpoints.
“I’m very interested in that fight,” Davis said. “Chael is a good-sized 205er. He can immediately jump right in. But he’s up against a champion who holds his own, he’s impressive.
"I cheer for the champion in this situation."
Bader, who has lost to Jones in the UFC, was a little more blunt.
“No disrespect to Chael … but I think Jones runs through him.”
Meanwhile Bader also shared his response to Quinton (Rampage) Jackson, who recently called him a "weak opponent" and blamed his loss at UFC 144 in Japan in February on a knee injury.
"He’s still crying about it, I don’t even pay attention to it anymore," Bader said. "We had a contract to fight on a certain night, you’re job is to go out there and win. I flew all the way out to Japan, I trained my butt off. I went out there, handled the jetlag, made weight, went out there and beat him that night. "He has the same thing. If you’re injured don’t fight. I had knee surgery right after that. I was injured too, we both went in there and I beat him."
Bader also said there was no excuse for Jackson to miss weight for their fight by half a dozen pounds.
"If anything, he should be ashamed of himself, not talking s--- about me.”

Bader is looking back over his shoulder at rampage. So bader doesn't even really need to stand up for himself. Rampage is squawking uphill. Bader addressed it properly.

I love Rampage (although, lately I'm finding it hard to) but Bader is right here.

Rampage has an excuse for every fight he has lost, he can't take responsibility for being exposed as a one-dimensional headhunter now-a-days.
He's only become a worse fighter since joining Wolf's Lair. Now he's not only surrounded by yes men like Tiki, but he's also got no wrestling/jitz coaches, just a boxing coach that thinks hooks are the best thing since sliced bread.
It's really laughable how bad he's become. Good on Bader for leaving Rampage in the rear-view. Now if he can only fix that problem with dropping his left when he attacks...

+rep to Bader for that one. Rampage should be ashamed the way he showed up to the country that made him what he is today.

Page is a dick. Misses weight, loses the fight, has many excuses and still has the nerve to disrespect Bader. Glad Bader stayed classy.

Quality interview from Bader. To be honest I don't think I have ever seen him give a bad one.

Page as the grappling coach is even worse than not having someone else there.

Rampage is a crybaby.
It's a shame, because I used to be a fan before his first stint with TUF but he's become the UFC's Terrell Owens.
Good on Bader for sticking up for himself in such a fashion. Hopefully Bader can keep improving and fix those weak spots he's got.
