Nick Diaz update from Cesar Gracie

We're getting closer and closer to Nick Diaz's suspension coming up and he'll be able to return to the Octagon soon enough. His trainer, Cesar Gracie, talks about said pending return and maintains that Nick still wants that Georges St. Pierre fight.

Cesar Gracie talks to Fight Hub about the pending return of Nick Diaz to the UFC.

"It all depends on the courts right now. He could come back fairly soon, hopefully. Worst case scenario, we're looking at the first quarter of 2013. He's ready to fight. I think everyone knows who he wants to fight, he wants GSP. If something happens, Nick can jump right in. But yeah, Nick's a fighter, he'll fight anybody.

"He's been doing great. He stays in shape. Being a martial artist, you know a lot of guys they just focus on getting ready for a fight, getting in shape to get ready for a fight but they're not training or they're not really living a healthy lifestyle when they don't have a fight coming up. Nick is one of those guys who is a true martial artist. He's constantly training. He wants to learn all the time. If he couldn't fight tomorrow, he'd still be a martial artist. A lot of these guys are in it for the glory or just the money or something like that but Nick's in it for being it and that's a refreshing thing to have."

Georges St. Pierre is set to fight Carlos Condit at UFC 154 on Nov. 17 in Montreal and even if he wins, the promotion may be hoping to put together a St. Pierre vs. Anderson Silva super-fight at Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Texas next year.

That leaves Diaz needing an opponent for his return. So who should it be?

Give him Fitch.

that would be amazing if Fitch could lay on him for 3 rounds. I think Nick's head would explode at decision time.

Demian Maia would be a pretty fun match up.

It'd be nice to see him in a ground battle.

Kos could be fun for the attitude.

It would never be on the ground. Diaz would **** him up from the outside the entire fight.

Kos would be a good match up for Diaz because he wins it pretty dominantly.
The Maia fight to me would probably go all Nick's way on the feet, but people would then say Maia faught the wrong fight or make excuses like they did with BJ.
Fitch would be a hard hard fight for Diaz. It's the complete style he would struggle against (to be fair, it's GSP's style too). Would be a true test to his TDD and BJJ.

Don't give Diaz GSP, he (dIAZ) couldn't even beat the Interim Champion, when he lost he threw his toys out the pram like a spoilt brat. Give him Maia or Kos and I think they'll be great fights. But Diaz is, and has always acted like a crybaby and he shouldn't be rewarded for it by him being given fights he hasn't earnt yet (ie. GSP).

Can't wait for Nick's return, he is SUCH a good fighter and every time he managed to get Condit to FIGHT, he trashed him.

I don't care who he fights next, he's a bad fight for everyone right now.

Diaz did trash Condit when they engaged, and I think those who think DM would take him on the ground would be in for a surprise. Diaz' JJ is top notch. He is not getting submitted.

But my point is that Greg Jackson has the gameplans to beat either Diaz brother now, and he'd corner GSP. I cheer for the Diaz brothers, but GSP is perhaps the most disciplined fighter. He'll follow a gameplan while Nick just shows up to fight.

On mobile, sorry for spelling errors

I disagree, id love to see Nick work his Jiu Jitsu against another black belt. I think he could sub Fitch off his back.
