Not like he'd win a rematch anyway. Pettis of today isn't Pettis of 2011. All Guida did was make him a better fighter.
No one blames you for forgetting about that Maynard fight ASAP. I wish I could be so lucky.

I think Pettis is more than capable of holding the belt.

How do you figure? He's only fought once since the Guida fight, and it was a KO victory ten seconds into the first round. I don't see how we have any indication that his TDD has improved, etc.

That said, Guida moved down to 145 recently. Pettis is safe for the time being.

Pettis hasn't been overly impressive in the UFC thus far. A boring loss to Clay Guida, an unimpressive grinding win over Jeremy Stephens, and now maybe he's on the path of redemption with the impressive KO over Lauzon.

There's still a lot of questions that need answering.

He's fought twice and showed off his wrestling against Stephens and now he's training with Ben Askren, he'll be fine regardless. No one can hang with Pettis and that'll become evident in 2013 when he once again, takes the Lightweight title, this time in the big leagues.

You aren't alone, plenty of people think Showtime is going to be the man at 155 real soon. I'm not one of those people though. I don't think he would beat Bendo in a rematch and I don't think he would be Diaz right now. I think Showtime vs Alvarez would be a heck of a fight. I do however think Showtime will wreck Cowboy and I think he is a top 5 LW.

well this is gonna be a great fight, but this will be an impressive showing for pettis, cerrone is the perfect style opponent for him do to what he does best.. i believe showtime will take bendo in a rematch too.. he will have his biggest test against fighters like diaz and edgar..

These two have very similar styles, but Pettis does everything a little better.
