JDS would be favorite over Overeem, steroids or not
If and when the fight between JDS and Overeem happens, I see JDS being clearly the favorite.
Overeem may have been the K-1 grand prix winner, however they compete in MMA. JDS is training wrestling and BJJ with the Nogueiras and other Brazilians, and I believe he will have an advantage over Overeem in that despite the size and strenght advantage
In terms of striking, Overeem is not the best in K-1 even if he won the grand prix. JDS is considered the best striker in UFC by boxers like Klitschko and David Haye.
Going by the logic that JDS only uses his hands and kickboxing is better then boxing, then a top k-1 fighter like Mirko Cro Cop should have beat JDS by striking, but he got stopped.
Also note that Overeem has a suspect chin, and was rocked fighting in K-1 by people no bigger then JDS.
Just because JDS never competed in K-1, doesn't mean he's not a top striker that can't beat Overeem in MMA

Well that's a given, aside from Jones/Ruas the challenger is always the underdog.

Were Maynard and Henderson not favoured over Edgar?

Reason being I saw some threads that pointed out since Overeem won K-1 grand prix and JDS hasn't, therefore Overeem > JDS

Yeah and Cro Cop has a chance to win K1 this year, JDS would knock the the blocks off Overeem's roided chin.

No one's really gone after JDS legs, and Overeem has the ability and smarts to try.
I still agree though that JDS is the favourite if not only for the fact that he's the undefeated champion with a wake knockouts behind him in the UFC no less, but also that he would probably get the better of Overeem in a 5 round fight. Overeem has many accomplishments outside the UFC which are hard to qualify, and he has a more spotty record in his past.
Would love to see that match happen.
Just want to add that its not like JDS doesn't know how to throw a kick. He trains Muay Thai, he just chooses not use his other weapons that often, I imagine because his game is tight as it is now.

These guys are completely different strikers.
JDS - has excellent movement and is constantly shifting angles which makes it very difficult to land a solid strike on em w/o getting countered back. That is why Cain as I predicted had the right game plan in kicking his legs which decreases his power and mobility.
Power - 7.5
Speed - 8
Chin - not quite fully tested but I'd say 7/8 since he's made it this far.
Endurance - untested
MAIN WEAPON: Speed, agility, left hook, jab, and right overhand. Strong takedown and scrambles.
The Reem - slow, stands in the pocket and methodically hunts his opponent. I mean when was the last time you saw someone hunt Brock the entire fight. Brock charged Cain in the opening stanza. He knows how to use angles as well by shifting his shoulder and head rather than moving his entire body. Just watch em against Todd Duffee...he barely moved and immediately countered. That's a pro right there.
Power - 9
Speed - 5
Chin - 6
Endurance - K-1 (8) in MMA it's hard to tell because he's completely transformed from the LHW days. I'd give em the benefit of the doubt and say 6-7.
Main weapons: Left hook to the body, leg kick, liver kick, inside leg kicks, and UBER KNEE. Very strong takedown defense due to his abnormal strength.
I can really see a Condit vs Hardy moment where both land left hooks simultaneously.
I can't quite see who the clear winner is at the moment. But when they were slated to fight I said that The Reem would take it.

Overeem is one of the easiest stylistic matchups for JDS. Slow, weak chin, wilts under pressure. Mir was a scarier fight IMO.

I think Overeem has a great chance against Jds, I think he may shock alot of people. Overeem is a very smart fighter. I remember before the Brock fight how everyone was saying Overeem struggles against wrestlers, Overeem doesn't have a good take down defence, Overeem will lose, what happened there?. I think Overeem has the tools to stand with Jds, and sure Jds has alot of power, but so does the Reem.
