In his last fight. this wasn't 5,4,3,2, or even a year ago. Ross peirson lost to a guy who was Jen's pulvers only wec win. and it wasn't even close.

That shonnie carter lose happened what, at least 5 years ago? maybe 10? (I could look it up but you get my point).

Lets not get side tracked, with nitt picking. Ross Perison isn't the future of 155 or 145 true or false?

If Ross Perison is what's keeping out the heaver weight classes on tuff I'd rather we get some bigger guys.

your throughts?

As for the hw show sucking it got higher ratings than the current shows. I'm not asking every season be big huge lumbering oafs.

The ratings are down. the matches have been lack luster this season. I fail to see when the boats already sinking what could it hurt?

Ross Pearson is not a great fighter, i just take issue with bringing up the fact the guy who beat him lost to Pulver 5 years ago...

5 years is a long time in mma, Swanson looks good right now....cant wait to see him again.

And I understand, Cub has started to pull it together against such high level talents like george the poop scoop roop. (I Kid... kinda).

Cub for the longest time had the title as thee single worst fighter on team greg jackson. he was right up there with the dream smasher.

and against D-C level talent (roop being a d-, I could be cool with Ross being called C+) he's shinning.

that still doesn't change the fact Cub, despite having the best gym in the world, all the youth in the world, lost to Jen's pulver when Jen's was in free fall.

Ross Peirson was seriously going places before losing to Swanson. now he has to play the "i'm from England card." and get a coaching job on tuff when before he was a legit contender.

Is it hate? It's true. I've become Cubs fan lately, but I'm skeptical.

And that's another thing I refuse to beleive we can't find a hw or at least a lhw as good a roop. COME ON!

They'll eventually have one, be patient. Right now, I think they're trying to to focus more on the lower weight class so the lightest divisions can get more exposure. I wouldn't be surprised if the next TUF had a flyweight tournament involved.

I apoligize in advance for the impending snarky remark but it's doubtful and I'll tell you why. tuff champions cut down a weight.

If they have a fly weight champion he wouldn't have any where left to go? I think that's the main hope I have for a Heavy weight division. we might get some real LHW contenders off a HW tuff. I swear I love the smaller weight classes to death. But LHW right now is missing alot. LIke alot, alot. Hell it's sending up middle weights to bid for the title.

A little growth not only couldn't hurt, it's needed badly.

It's so interesting how if you don't like 135 lbs and below fights you 'aren't a real fan' but if you dismiss heavyweights as garbage fighters, you're just being realistic.

While 135 lbs fighters tend to have no power, 265 lbs fighters tend to have bad cardio. It just comes with the territory.

And I thought the fights on the HW seasons we've had so far were easily on par with any other season.

The real reason is there are so few HWs (due to the fact, unlike lighter fighters, they actually have other career paths open to them) that if you are good enough for TUF, you're good enough for the UFC anyway. No need for the extended tryout since you aren't competing with as many guys.

There are literally millions of little 135 lbs guys trying to be MMA fighters, just go to any liquor store on a Friday night and you'll meet 100 of them. Heavy guys tend to be doing other, more profitable things than MMA... Like being garbage men.

I'm really, really, really, trying not to say manlet midget mma. I lover the lower weight classes because the represent TALENT!
the last few seasons for the most part have been lacking talent (baring ufc brazil).

It comes when people with 185 pound frames walk around 50 or more pounds heavy.

Nonsense many washed up football players try mma.

I'm guessing the part in bold is supposed to be my internal monologue or something? That`s cute I guess.

Overeem, Werdum, Bigfoot, Shane Carwin, Frank Mir all have 185 lbs frames? Because they're all HWs who have gassed in fights.

The argument can be made also that a lot of guys currently fighting at 135 or 145 lbs could have a lot more power if they stopped cutting so much weight and fought at their natural weight classes instead. Like the HW fighters do.

There`s like 6.

Sure there are. And they`d be fighting at 185 or 170lbs like all the other 200lbs fighters.

HW fighters are a rare breed. GOOD HW fighters, who actually want to fight at HW instead of LHW are even rarer.

There are loads of good lighter weight fighters, there a less good HW fighters, there`s room for both. But the laws of supply and demand dictate that the competition to get into the UFC at the lighter weights will be tougher. There are simply more small guys who want to fight MMA than say, play basketball, football, etc because they're just too small to compete there. HW guys, on the other hand, being a rare breed (especially athletic ones) will have more options to make more money playing in those other, more established sports.

And finally, this isn`t democrats vs republicans, let`s try not to be so openly hostile, eh? I'm not attacking your way of life, I'm just voicing my opinion about sports on a sports forum.

Edit: Just realized you started this thread. Why did you start a thread asking a question if you didn't want answers?

I wish they would drop the reality TV bull shit and turn the show into an actual tournament to see who gets into the UFC. Cut all of the sob stories, pranks, etc.. and replace that with useful information like techniques the guys have learned.

But, of course that would never happen. It makes too much sense and there wouldn't be enough ratings.

You might not be far off. the ratings have been awful, and while some people blame the talent pool, I blame the fact that the reality part is repetitive and worn out. We have all seen people act like idiots in front of cameras, and I think the average mma fan, who is the only one watching this, has become tired of that crap.

The model is broken.
