Don't understand how the guy that was holding their opponent on the cage for the majority of 2 rounds gases before he does..

Size difference.
And given Silva's history, let's wait until the post fight drug test results come in before we get ahead of ourselves.

Perhaps the fans? Kind of hoped he'd win though, just to see him getting embarrassed by a top tier guy.

I suspect the UFC brass will put Thiago in against Te Huna or Manuwa next.

Thiago is not a good guy at all and he is not making it up for his chances in UFC. Refusing to touch gloves in the begining of the fight? So full of sh!t. That being said, the first low kick barely touched and the second never happened. Nedkov gassed before Thiago and lost his left leg for those leg kicks and I think the referee tought he was faking/overeacting for those low blows to gain time. I felt like that at a time.
Nedkov is overrated and his wide, wild strikes are ugly to watch. Thiago much larger man just overpowered him.
Bad fight to watch.

Manuwa I think would make a better fight.
I think if Silva fought Te Huna it will look like Silva vs Alex Gus0706787 and no one wants that.
