Thiago's some character. Extremely overrated with his best victories over Jardine and Houston Alexander.
Quote:
"I took that fight in Sweden on short notice after [Antonio Rogerio Nogueira] became injured," he said. "Prior to that, I was idle for over one year due to a suspension. I don't think I was at 100 percent. Not only that, but I hurt my ribs five days before I boarded the plan to Sweden, so I didn't have the option to take the fight to the ground. I don't like to make excuses, but it's what happened nonetheless."
"I don't like to make excuses but i'll make a few anyway." All this coming from a guy who humiliated his opponent in Vera (by playing drums on his back etc.) while being on the juice.

He's the type of guy i want to see win a few, just to see him get outclassed by a top guy.

The guy's only win in the last three years is Jardine, who can't take a punch, as far as ATT goes, I would love to see Alves leave there and go somewhere else. It's only a matter of time until the Blackzilians ends up like ATT, Jackson's, and AKA. They already have Rashad, Overeem, Vitor, Rumble, Spong, and low level guys like Johnson and now Thiago Silva.
You would think they would be there with that stable already and yet the guys that train there keep losing. Iron sharpens Iron but you also have a lot of ego there so maybe that is part of the problem.

Ha, going from one losing camp to another.

You just jumped from the frying pan into the fire bro! Start putting together your blackziluans suck interview for 2 years later. We know you're not gonna admit it was just you.

Imma play the devil's advocate, just for fun. I think it is probably a good idea for a fighter to think like this. Is it good for getting you new fans? No. But if you're a fighter and you just keep losing, making an excuse is probably better for your mentality then just saying "Oh, these guys are just much better than me." Look how well that mentality works for Forrest. Thiago, get clean, blame everyone else, and fight hard.

Im not arguing what you are saying.

But its hard to deny that Blackzillian seems to recently be a decent camp and getting better.

Alistair Overeem
Cosmo Alexandre
Eddie Alvarez
Gesias Cavalcante
Siyar Bahadurzada
Thiago Silva
Vitor Belfort
Braulio Estima
Rashad Evans
Melvin Guillard
Guto Inocente
Michael Johnson
Anthony Johnson
Fabio Mello
Matt Mitrione
Claude Patrick
Jorge Santiago
Tyrone Spong
Miguel Torres
Danillo Villefort
Yuri Villefort

Anthony Johnson is doing better then ever. Gesias Cavalcante just won his fight. Mitrione does not have a bad career for someone being that inexperienced and getting in the UFC. Tyrone Spong must be a great sparring partner.

Then you have the obvious people like Overeem,Rashad,Vitor. I would like to add Torres to that list but his career has been quit the disappointment as of late.

So yeah i agree that the camp isnt doing amazing or anything compared to some. But it has potential and there is guys that could benefit quiet a bit by being in that camp.

Good for him. ATT has been pretty terrible for a while now.

Oh I'm not arguing the talent level or potential in that camp, you're spot on about that. But those guys have built their reputations and careers long before coming to blackzilians.

However other than possibly Rashad, since coming to that camp over 90% of those guys have been on the losing end or suspended. If anything, that makes the camp itself and it's training, discipline or gameplanning look that much worse. To take that level of talent and make them all suck, the camp must either be colossally bad and disorganized, or incredibly unlucky.

I mean just out of your list, Eddie Alvarez lost his title right after he moved to BZ, Guillard is on a 1-3 losing streak since BZ, Belfort just got his ass kicked by Jones right after he joined, Overeem got busted and suspended right after he joined, Anthony Johnson got cut from the UFC after he joined, JZ is a mediocre 2-2, Santiago just got 0-2ed out of the UFC right after he joined, Danillo Villefort lost his one and only fight since joining, Torres is 1-2 since joining, Mitrione just got his first career loss and is 1-1 since joining, Siyar has been injured and hasn't had a fight since joining, and so on.

If I was the superstitious type, I'd say that's one jinxed camp. But I'm not really, so I'm inclined to think their methods must suck.

Well you really should rethink that statement.

I just searched all the unknown guys on that list and most of them are actually winning their last few fights. Id say 80% of them.

Vitor Belfort - lost to Jon Jones which probably would have happened no matter what camp he was in. And he put up good fight for someone with a broken hand stepping up on short notice and being a middle weight.

Overeem - we already know how good he is doing. I think he has only been at Blackzillians for his fight with Brock Lesnar though.

Rashad Evans - Lost to Jon Jones. Which again that really doesnt say anything bad about the camp since Jon Jones is the best LHW currently and top 3 p4p. Before that he was on a 4 fight win streak (But correct me if im wrong i think he joined Blackzillians while training for Ortiz??)

Miguel Torres - Yeah his career has gone down hill. And has been for some time.

Anthony Johnson - 4 fight win streak

Matt Mitrione - He is inexpirienced but has 5 wins and 1 loss. And he took time off to train after his loss to Kongo. Too soon to make any definite comments BUT he has a good career for someone so inexperienced joining the UFC. I dont know when he joined Blackzillians. Was it just for the Kongo fight??? (But he probably should have gotten another 2 years under his belt before he fought Kongo)

Tyrone Spong - 1 fight 1 KO win.

Alvarez - 2 fight win streak.

Melvin Guillard - you are correct.

Unknown guys beating unknown guys isn't what the top cream are moving there for though. I just edited and added more to the list above while you were replying, the more I look into the top guys at that camp, the more I see careers going downhill.

I mean guys like Alvarez and AJ beating nobodies shouldn't be seen as them going up since coming to BZ, the fact is that these guys were considered contenders and top 10s before moving to blackzilians, and now they're putting together winning streaks against scrubs after losing to top competition. Their careers overall went downhill since BZ, just like the rest I mentioned.

Unknown guys beating unknown guys is how careers start. Maybe one day they wont be so unknown. They have to earn their shot though.

And i only said that because you said 90% of people on that list have been on the losing end. Which was wrong since 80% of those guys have WIN written on the tail end.

I dont see how you think most of their careers have been going down hill.

Thats a true statement for Torres and Guillard

The rest of the guys careers arnt going downhill unless they start losing their next few fights. Losses to Jon Jones does not mean their careers are going down hill. And it says even less about how good or bad the Blackzillians camp are.

Overeem is suspended but that has nothing to do with Blackzillians. Overeem won his fight against Brock Lesnar training with Blackzillians.

Alvarez won his last 2 fights and is on his way in to the UFC. His career is definitly going up hill.

Anthony Johnson is on a 4 fight win streak and if Dana can forgive the problems they had then AJ is just about ready to be let back in to the UFC. As a 205er no less.

I just dont see where your opinion comes from. I think Blackzillians has been on a upswing as of lately. Im not by any means saying it will last though. Time will be the determining factor.

"Edit"

When i say "As of lately" i mean as of lately. Im not talking about a long period of time.
