i agree with him because silva's one weakness is wrestling and gsp is a good wrestler with great transitions unlike chael he has some BJJ skills for defense also unlink chael i don't think he is going to throw a dumb spinning back fist and trip.

Georges will lose but this is Anderson's game, GSP's been out for forever and now he comes back off a career threatening injury and now he wants to fight him? It's typical Anderson.
If he wants to really challenge himself, he should go fight Jones but he probably needs to learn some more illegal tricks like greasing himself up, grabbing a guy's shorts, and throwing illegal knees to the head before.

As soon as he touches that chin its over, rounds start standing and Sonnen (in the first fight) had to take quite a bit on punishment to keep getting the takedowns, including being dropped.
Silva will stay near the cage and force GSP to work hard for any takedown. GSP cant win this one....he gets stopped.

GSP needs to win for 25 minutes and Anderson needs to win for 1 second. The size difference is like 2-3 inches of height, basically the same reach, and maybe 10 pounds at most; that shit doesn't matter. What matters is that Anderson steals peoples souls.

I think this puts it into perspective the most. Anderson is the clear favorite.
Hughes is the type that always thinks the person that beat him is going to win, and he's taken every opportunity he's had to shit on Anderson. That said, IF GSP does win, it's because Anderson wasn't able to defend the TD.

Here are my problems with having a clear winner:
Problems for GSP:
1. Inactivity and injury
2. Has a hard time pulling the trigger in big fights due to mental insecurity. Therefore shooting late, or appearing "robotic" due to nerves. His head movement and footwork isn't as fluid as others but he can get away with it due to his amazing athleticism.
Problems for Silva
1. Age. Anderson is a reflex based fighter and reflexes go before speed and then speed goes before power. Anderson has looked fantastic but a reflex fighter can age overnight. Look at Chuck Liddell and Roy Jones Jr.
2. Anderson can have problems on the ground and GSP is outstanding at controlling position.
These factors really make this fight much more difficult for me to predict at this point in time. I guess it makes it much more exciting but there are a lot of extraneous variables for me in this fight to make an accurate prediction.
Just my .002 but good thread.

How do people think GSP has a chance in hell after the Bonnar fight? Bonnar is a BIG DUDE and a decent grappler and had no chance of getting Anderson down against the cage. GSP is successful with his grappling/takedowns because he mixes it up and is a threat. He's no, none, zero threat to Anderson standing and his takedown attempts would reflect that.

Anderson has 2 fights left on his contract, and i dont believe him when he says he will fight for 5 more years, he wants to beat GSP now but will still have one more fight to go
now how does it make sense to beat GSP then take a fight less significant to his legacy as his last fight? i truly think he will use his victory over GSP as a negotiating tool to get X amount of money for the JBJ fight, thats the only fight thats bigger than GSP and Anderson no doubt will want to go out with a huge payday and with the biggest fight possible and thats JBJ
hes just being a smart guy...heres the P4P list nowadays
1 - AS
2 - GSP
3 - JBJ
Anderson is lucky enough to be in a weightclass between the number #3 and #2 P4P fighters, why not use his last 2 fights to take them both out? makes sense...i think this is his plan, but hes going to troll dana saying he will never fight JBJ so he gets the biggest payday in the history of the sport

lol u all got trolled by matt hughes..
Firstly Matt Hughes hates GSP likes most other UFC fighters.
Secondly Matt Hughes knows that Safe Pierre is super scared to fight Anderson Silva. (watch UFC 112, GSP went to Abu Dhabi to watch Silva vs Maia cos Anderson Silva was suppose to cut down to 170 to face GSP if he won that fight. only reason it didnt happen was cos Dana got pissed off at Anderson's performance in round 4-5) Anyway if you look at GSP's expression during round 1-3, anyone can CLEARLY tell he is totally scared.
Thirdly everyone know that super chicken Safe Pierre doesnt have ANY chance against the Anderson Silva. GSP can't even turkey sandwich.. whens the last time you saw GSP finishing a fight? lol
I know this forum is full of hardcore GSP nuthuggers(inc some mods) but Safe Pierre is the most boring fighter in UFC history far, biggest chicken/cheater. I think Safe Pierre's record decision wins(for UFC champion) speaks for itself.. imagine if Safe Pierre fought in US, everyone will be booing hardcore, "CHICKEN!!! Faag!!!" etc, no wonder he always fight in Canada.. tsk tsk
