"UFC targets Anaheim for Feb. 23 event, likely UFC 157 on pay-per-view
by Matt Erickson and John Morgan on Nov 12, 2012 at 2:00 pm ET
For the sixth time in the company's history, the UFC is expected to host an event in Anaheim, Calif.

Source close to the organization today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) the 2013 event is targeted for Feb. 23.

It's expected to be a pay-per-view offering, likely UFC 157, and take place at the 15,000-seat Honda Center.

No fights are currently rumored for the card.

The UFC hasn't hosted an event at the venue since UFC on FOX 1 a year ago. The show marked the UFC's debut on network television. In the headliner, Junior Dos Santos took the UFC heavyweight title from then-champ Cain Velasquez with a 64-second TKO. (The fighters are set to rematch next month at UFC 155.)

Honda Center also hosted UFC 121 (Cain Velasquez vs. Brock Lesnar) in 2010, UFC 76 (Chuck Liddell vs. Keith Jardine) in 2007, UFC 63 (Matt Hughes vs. B.J. Penn II) in 2006, and UFC 59 (Tim Sylvia vs. Andrei Arlovski II) in 2006.

UFC 157 would be the second UFC PPV of 2013 following UFC 156 on Super Bowl weekend on Feb. 2. "

If they go with a title fight it'd have to be Ronda vs. Cyborg or someone, Cruz/Barao, and a GSP/Condit title defense being a distant possibility.

Machida vs. Henderson could certainly headline even though it's being targeted for Super Bowl weekend, it's a much more relevant fight than Rashad/Lil' Nog and I think a lot of people wanna see it more so having Rashad and Lil' Nog move to it and headline would be a mistake imo.

Give me Machida vs. Henderson, Koscheck vs. Diaz, Fitch vs. Maia, Bader vs. Vera, and Le vs. Stann, and I'd be pretty content with that main card.

so strip the "Superbowl" card? to make the next one stronger? c'mon man...

Condit could defend then but he isn't getting past GSP,

If GSP wins, he won't fight until March against Silva or wait for Diaz in May or July on a Vegas card.

I think they will use Rousey vs "X" on a Fox card to bring in more mainstream viewers,

Either way the 2013 schedule is off to an ambitious start!

Jan 19 - UFC on FX: BELFORT vs BISPING (Brazil)

Jan 26 - UFC on FOX: JOHNSON vs DODSON (Chicago)

If the UFC can't get a title fight, yes take Machida/Hendo off of it, Rashad/Lil' Nog is a much more suitable co-main event and Machida/Hendo is a better main event, Faber's supposed to fight on the Super Bowl card anyway so Aldo/Edgar, Rashad/Lil' Nog, and Faber/Someone would be alright.

Is a more attractive card than

ALDO/EDGAR, NOG/EVANS, FABER/Someone,

While ALDO / EDGAR is a good fight, it needs some major help to attract the paying customer whether it be at the gate or the PPV. Neither guy draws..

EVANS can draw, but Lil'Nog isn't a sexy opponent..

Faber at this point is PPV filler or FX / Fuel Main or Co-main
