Bisping Wants Interim Title Fight vs. Belfort If Anderson Silva Goes on Break
Quote:
Michael Bisping isn't pleased that Anderson Silva expects a vacation from the Octagon for most of next year. However, "The Count" has a recommendation for the UFC.
Directing a Twitter message at Dana White, Bisping has stated that his upcoming title eliminator fight with Belfort should have far higher takes. Specifically, a UFC belt:

@bisping
@danawhite if Anderson wants to take time off to be a movie star make me and vitor for the interim title????
Silva made waves recently during an interview with TATAME, where he suggested that he would be taking a sabbatical from defending his belt until the end of 2013. As the middleweight champion noted, his upcoming role in a new Steven Seagal film will keep him busy, along with opening a new gym.
If that's the case, Silva would be out of competition for over a year. Coupled with the fact that his last title defense happened at UFC 148 against Chael Sonnen on July 7th, the middleweight title picture would be on hold for quite a while.
However, the UFC is unlikely to grant Bisping's request.
Silva has only competed twice a year since 2009, and the UFC will likely be lobbying hard to get Silva back into the Octagon to help fuel a superfight with Jon Jones or Georges St. Pierre.
Moreover, an interim middleweight champion has never been crowned in the promotion's history. It's hard to fathom that an interim belt would be awarded to either Bisping or Belfort at UFC on FX in Brazil in January, effectively disrupting the current lineage of Silva's UFC middleweight championship reign.

Mike's making perfect sense here, surely it's not up to Anderson to put his division on hold just to have almost a year off. It's not up to Anderson to put everyones title dreams and careers into a state of limbo just to make another Steven Seagal straight-to-DVD film.

Bisping will do anything for a title shot
No, there is no need for an interim title shot in this case. Keep fighting if you want to fight while you wait, or you can sit and wait on your title shot.

I wonder what would happen if Jon Jones just said, "You know what? I'm gonna go hang out for a bit, see ya'll in a bit, and I'm taking the title with me."
Hell, what if ANY UFC Champ did that?
Just strip Anderson of the belt and be done with him, this guy clearly doesn't care about his fans, his bosses or his co-workers. It's gonna be hilarious when this ego-maniac gets starched by someone.

yeah...wtf man, im probably the biggest AS nuthugger here and i have to say **** you anderson...no champion has the right to just stop defending their belt whenever they want, hes really starting to become a little bitch, GOAT or not stop complaining and demanding so much crap and defend your belt man
i still want him to destroy everyone and ill never NOT be a Anderson fan but hes really being a ***** latley and theres no way to deny it, my only hope is that hes just saying these things so Dana really pushes the GSP fight and this is just some Anderson mind games
if not then strip him of the belt since he doesnt want to fight and just wants superfights...it will ruin the MWs division credibility but there really wont be another option

It doesn't take that long to film a movie and he is including the GSP fight in there. So basically he is talking about fighting GSP at the beginning of 2013 taking like 2 or 3 months off to film a movie and open a business and then defending his title. So really he is going to miss one fight and you people are insane. Bisping and Vitor don't even deserve title shots.
