It's getting big!

Featherweight Championship bout: Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar
Light Heavyweight bout: Lyoto Machida vs Dan Henderson
Light Heavyweight bout: Antônio Rogério Nogueira vs Rashad Evans
Heavyweight bout: Antonio Silva vs Alistair Overeem
Welterweight bout: Erick Silva vs TBD

Maybe one of these fights will be shuffled to Ufc 157 in anaheim, Ariel Helwani did tweet that Hendo/Machida isn't official yet, despite Hendo saying he was fighting on Superbowl card

"The Ultimate Fighting Championship's annual major Super Bowl weekend card in Las Vegas just got a whole lot bigger.

Alistair Overeem is now expected to make his return to the cage against Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva in a matchup of massive heavyweight contenders at UFC 156 at Mandalay Bay on Feb. 2, the Review-Journal has learned.

Overeem's appearance on the card is pending approval from the Nevada Athletic Commission as he is currently serving a nine-month suspension for an out-of-competition drug test conducted by the NAC that revealed elevated testosterone levels. The 32-year-old is eligible to re-apply for a license on Dec. 27.

"Come Dec. 27, he's like any other fighter," NAC executive director Keith Kizer said. "He's free to apply for his license. The commission will not do it administratively, however. He has to appear at a commission meeting."

The next commission hearing after that date will likely take place in early-to-mid January, according to Kizer.

Overeem is expected to request a license at that hearing.

"The commission can go any way they want to at that meeting. They could say yes, they could say no, they could say yes with conditions," Kizer said. "All of that will be on the table, but nothing can happen as far as licensure until after (Dec. 27)."

Kizer said he doesn't have a problem with a fight being promoted before a fighter is officially licensed as long as the public is aware of the potential for a denial of the license and therefore, a change to the event.

Overeem's return to action would make him an instant factor in the heavyweight title picture. Long ranked among the top fighters in the world, Overeem finally made his UFC debut last December with a first-round knockout of Brock Lesnar. Overeem was then slated to face Junior dos Santos for the heavyweight belt until the Dutch kickboxer failed a surprise NAC drug test that was administered at a March 27 press conference promoting the fight.

Silva is coming off a first-round knockout of Travis Browne last month.

The Overeem-Silva fight is not the only contest that will be added to what is shaping up to be a major event.

Light heavyweight contender Rashad Evans will take on Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Evans, the former champion, will look to rebound from a loss to champion Jon Jones in a light heavyweight title bout in April. Nogueira, the twin brother of heavyweight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, has been hampered by injuries and has not competed since a first-round knockout of Tito Ortiz last December.

The card also features a previously announced main event featherweight title bout between Frankie Edgar and champion Jose Aldo. Tickets for UFC 156 go on sale on Nov. 30.

Oh ****, Overeem will tear that ass up.

I highly doubt they slap Aldo/Edgar, Overeem, Machida/Hendo(which Ariel said isn't confirmed), Rashad, and Faber all on the same card though.

This really is the continuation of the SF Grand Prix.

I have not seen anybody take down The Reem since he's gone up two weight classes really. He belongs in the super heavy weight division. He actually manhandled Brock not just with strikes, but I mean outmuscled em. Anybody see how he used one hand to push Brock against the fence. Brock couldn't get any sort of leverage in the clinch/takedown attempt.

I really wonder how strong he is.

Anyways it's a good fight cuz the loser will fight the loser of JDS vs Cain.

I don't know what Cain is going to do "if" he loses. He basically smashes the rest of the division and will hold it hostage til he gets a third chance if need be. Bad move by UFC. They should have waited for Overeem or put Cormier.

My gut instinct tells me Cain is ultra hungry and will take the win creating a rubber match. In the meantime it should be The Reem who goes on a war path.

Probably because there hasn't been a card like this since 129, damn injuries. I still doubt we see all four of those fights and Faber on this card because that really just seems like overkill but if we do, the UFC sure isn't ****in' around and it only gets better with the SF guys and gals coming.

This article is so winning...fluid nerd talk...hahah!

So it's no surprise that fight promoters decided to put him in the ring with Cro Cop. Take the man with the crazy hard head and put him in the ring with the guy who kicks heads crazy hard. The result might surprise you: partially exploded head.

Cro Cop proved that Fujita's head is living tissue over a metal endoskeleton, and then Fedor proved that it will surrender if you start to sever it from its body. But Japanese fight promoters still hadn't gotten a chance to see someone just pound on it until it cracked. Will it explode when you expose its core? Is it filled with something that you can **** with an octopus? That's when it hit them: Wanderlei Silva. That guy hates skulls.

The Reem will use the FFS against Big Foot.

I mean whatever, Bigfoot called him out.

But makes little sense really. Reem was getting a title shot and failed a test.

Meanwhile, Bigfoot lost to 2 guys brutally. 2 men who were much smaller, tooled him on the feet and on the ground in Cain's case. He then faces the GREAT Travis Browne, Browne hops up and down like an idiot and injures his knee. Bigfoot proceeds to KO an immobile Travis Browne.

So that means you set up Bigfoot/Reem? Not sure why Bigfoot gets all these elite matchups. Perhaps because he is marketable beyond his talents.

It's a showcase fight but Overeem's been out for a while and it's not like he beat the Brock of 08/09, he beat a withered, faded, ruined by a serious illness Brock Lesnar and Bigfoot is still ranked in about the lower end of the top, 8-10 range so it's a plausible match up on that front.

I remember last year after Bigfoot/Fedor and Overeem/Werdum a lot of people were actually picking Bigfoot but he's been trashed twice now and Overeem looked amazing against Brock. This is just a showcase fight for Reem, he'll destroy Bigfoot, people will go "OMG! Overeem vs. dos Santos? I'ma buy dat shit!" and then JDS will do his thing and beat him up.

Bigfoot is just too slow and after he went out and threw a kick first thing against Cain I'm convinced he's a bit of a dumbass as well so this will be a mauling for Reem.
