St. Pierre vs. Condit II
Curious. How long do you think it will be before we see these two meet a second time? I'd say that a second encounter is a foregone conclusion, but will Dana and company look to get Carlos back in with GSP as soon as possible? Or are we more likely to see Hendricks, followed by the winner of Fitch vs. Maia take on Georges while Carlos works his way back up from bottom?
I see UFC wanting to put together a second bout asap. Which means finding Carlos the right opponent. Not because the fight was necessarily close, but because it damn well delivered. Perhaps more than any WW title bout in GSP's rich history as champion. I tend to believe we'll see GSP vs. Condit II before 2013 comes to an end. Maybe early 2014 if GSP keeps up this trend of fighting twice a year.
Thoughts? Who gets Carlos back in contention the quickest? As a fan, I enjoyed this fight so much I'm chomping at the bit to see it a second time.

I can't see it happening soon with Hendricks as #1 contender and the whole Silva situation. If it does, GSP will dominate him, that was domination (for 4.5 rounds) after a year and a half off, imagine what an active GSP could do.

I'm thinking late 2013 or early 2014 sounds reasonable - given that GSP has been only taking around 2 fights a year. Not sure if that's his choice, or Dana's to keep him a huge PPV draw, but it doesn't really matter.
Condit has fought pretty much everyone there is to fight - I could see him wanting to avenge his losses to Kampmann, as well as Shields. He could potentially fight either of those 2 guys around April (I believe thats when Shield's can return), and depending on the outcome be in line for another shot.

I'm curious to see if Fitch/Maia will be a #1 contender match or not.
If Fitch grinds out a decision I'm thinking he doesn't get a shot without another fight, but if he does somehing specatular, or if Maia wins then either could possibly be in line for a shot.

GSP shut Condit down for 25 minutes after an 18 month absence due to the notorious ACL tear. A rematch does not intrigue me.

i don't want to see this fight too soon.. it depends on what we see from condit in his next few fights but i think mid/late 2014 would be good. i think with time condit can win the rematch, but not if its rushed

Condit was outstruck on the feet and out grappled. He didn't seem to have anything for GSP, though I think he did as good as he could have. He did inflict a little damage from the bottom, and did land that kick in the 3rd.
Other than that, I just don't see what he could possibly mount against GSP. He doesn't have the style. Hendricks may, with his bombs and wrestling, but in that one also, i see GSP outstrking him using very technical striking, and out wrestling the wrestle like he always does.
The only guy I see beating GSP is Silva at a catchweight, mainly because of his size and reach advantage. I actually see GSP scoring a major upset though, striking well enough to avoid damage and getting takedowns. I don't see a Sonnen triangle stoping GSP. But that's an upset prediction to be sure. Silva would definitely be heavily favored.

Keep in mind I'm talking of a UFC landscape where GSP sticks with being WW champion and doesn't challenge Anderson Silva. Because, imo, that's likely to be the case.

Carlos isn't that great and won't earn another shot.
He'd have to be gifted one and I doubt that will happen.
