Popular CBS Sports basketball analyst Seth Davis went on a Twitter rant this weekend decrying the pictures of 'two muscular bloody men in homoerotic fighting pose' and saying he didn't want his sons to watch MMA.
CBS Basketball analyst Seth Davis added his voice to the chorus of MMA naysayers with a pair of Tweets this weekend:
Looking on news sites showing picture of two muscular bloody men in homoerotic fighting pose….Sorry, I’ll never get this UFC thing.

Maybe I’m a prude on this but I’m also a dad. I don’t mind my sons watching boxing, but I wouldn’t want them watching a UFC bout. — Seth Davis (@SethDavisHoops) November 18, 2012
Despite Davis' decision to delete the Tweets in short order, the condemnation was swift and came from all corners. MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani responded and Davis apologized:
Just read respected CBB journo @sethdavishoops' take on MMA. Very disappointing, but not shocking. Many feel this way. Their loss. ...

@arielhelwani The tweets were stupid and careless and you are 100 pct right to call me out. Appreciate and respect your work & passion.

Sounds like a closet **** that is ashamed that he loves the sausage and is scared his sons will follow in his footsteps and also love sausage, which they will.
To just appreciate it or eventually set his body as body model you would like to have, no, not ****. However, to love his body, a person definetely has to be ****.
Again, to perceive that for the same reasons mentioned above is one thing, but to call your buddies attention to that automatically falls into **** category. Maybe the person won't be, in fact, ****, but that's **** behavior, IMO.
Anyway, modern times. People need to do what ever suits them(provided not bumping in other people rights, of course) and we have to respect that.
Meh, he doesn't like MMA, that's fine there's no rule to say he has to like MMA but it just goes to show how frighteningly uneducated major sports media is on MMA.
Only as an attempt to save himself from a backlash, he’s concerned with his career not offending MMA fans, practitioners or homosexuals.
I’ll never understand the idea that learning to be a better fighter means that you’re crossing the boundary of homosexuality. I think that these mainstream jocks are actually afraid not of gays but of leaving their ESPN comfort zone and challenging themselves in a combat sport which may humble them.
The idea that someone is far more Alfa and bad ass then them makes them feel inadequate, their reaction is to talk shit (from the safety of their analyst booth) and try and take their betters down a level.
I could see joking about figure skaters or dancers being “gay” if you were old school and ignorant (even though figure skating is dangerous and takes athleticism and dancers are some of the best athletes of all). But at the end of the day unless you can get out there and DO IT you have no room to talk and deserve no respect or credibility.
Then again perhaps Seth does fantasize about being dominated by a flaming gay guy with great top control and he’s just projecting?:dunno:
I forget which fight it was but they were in north south position for a good minute or so and i remember dudes ass being literally on the other guys face. Yes to me that was disgusting because i know for fact there is no need to literally sit on a guys face but I do know that is the first time ive seen it out of countless times of guys being in north south.
North/South position is a legit position. Just ask Jeff Monson who has 10 wins via North/South choke and just got a win last week over Alexander Emelianenko with that choke. It's just immaturity when people start to giggle over grappling positioning.
I would expect someone of his intellect not to be so close minded. Well, at least he apologized for it. Remember when Benard Hopkins when on a rant basically saying the same thing? Man, those were the good' ol days right there...
