The Fitch KO was nice. Fitch doesn't have much striking, but he doesn't let that happen to him. The Kampmann KO I could see from a mile away. Kampmann wasn't going to out-wrestle him, so striking it was. Kampmann seems to love to get smashed in teh face whenever he fights. Hendricks isn't the guy you want smashing you in the face. Kampmann's defense is some of the worst in MMA.
A power strikerisn't going to beat GSP in my opinion, not unless they are technical on top of it. Sure Hendricks can send anyone in that division to the mat. But when GSP has a whole training camp to gameplan around a powerful left hand, I'm sure he can and will avoid it. Hendricks could stuff a TD, but not many.
Hey maybe it happens. Would be awesome. It is basically a different version of the Kos fight. Kos is the better wrestler but Hendricks has more 1 punch power. But they were both non-technical, cocked hand, wrestlers. Difference is GSP will probably have an easier time getting Hendricks down and gassing him before Hendricks can display any hand power.

Cant say I disagree with any of this.
If Hendricks is relying on only landing the left hand then i can see it being a very long night for him if he fights GSP.

Hendricks is a real good wrestler on paper. For this fight he should really go back to Ok St. and refine his wrestling. If he could come out and stuff multiple TDs it may get in GSP's head. While he has a crazed bearded man running around at him with his fist cocked.
I like Hendricks. I like his reaction when he KO's dudes. But I just don't see him bringing anything more to the table than anyone else. All GSP's opponents usually have 1 aspect that "gives them a chance" or an overrated aspect that people cling too. Condit was the most well-rounded of any recently and he did the best.
Kos has wrestling to match, but everyone overrated his KO ability.
Shields had positional BJJ and solid wrestling. He had no chance other than a 2nd eye poke because he wasn't going to get TDs and GSP wasn't going to sit in his guard.
Alves not even sure what he had. T-rex arms so maybe someone thought he could Matt Serra him...I don't know.
Fitch not sure what he offered. Toughness I guess which he showed.

I just Watched the Hendricks Vs Story Fight again Yesterday.... Even though though it was a really close fight, Story was able to muscle Johnny around when he wanted too.
I know Johnny has improved since then, but GSP is a freaking BEAST at 170 and will but him on his back fast. I guess Johnny has 5 rounds to land that 1 punch... That's the only way he has a chance.

He's probably not lying. It's not like his boxing is super technical or anything, he's just dangerous early in a fight

He KO'd Fitch in the first round. It took GSP 5 rounds to beat Fitch and he never had Fitch in danger of being finished.
Hendricks has more stoppage wins in the last year than GSP has in the last 4 years.

I'm not sure how vocal I've been on this forum about Hendricks, but I've been praising Rig for some time now. He will beat GSP. He has the beard to take GSP's strikes, solid wrestling to prevent the constant takedowns, and the power in his hands to put the champ down. GSP won't be able to bully Johnny like Story did in the clinch, he just wont have the great size and strength advantage. The only chance GSP has is to drag Hendricks into unfamiliar territory, and see what kind of tank he has.

GSP definitely had Fitch in danger of stoppage a couple of times.
As for finishes, totally irrelevant to who is the better fighter. What does Hendricks do that Koscheck doesn't? Nothing and he has the same chance of beating GSP that Kos did, very little.

Cool story, bro. GSP hasn't lost in five years. Johnny Hendricks has.
I suggest you go back and re-watch Fitch vs. GSP. Hendricks KOed Fitch in 12 seconds. GSP laid down a 5 round beating in which he had Jon in trouble on multiple occasions. They're both impressive victories in their own right. Trying to dismiss one in favour of the other is just nonsense.
