UFC 154 estimates 700K ppv buys

Preliminary estimates for UFC 154 were 680,000 to 700,000 buys, with huge numbers in Canada, really strong in places like Saskatoon and Edmonton. It's in line or just below the Jon Jones vs. Rashad Evans numbers from earlier this year, so probably third for the year overall. It's lower than what GSP has been doing the last few years, but overall business is down from 2010 and Carlos Condit isn't in the league with Dan Hardy and Josh Koscheck when it came to building a grudge and marketing a fight, not that he did badly. Plus, the pub wasn't there. With Hardy, his Countdown shows on Spike were a lot bigger deal. With Koscheck, you had the entire season of TUF building the fight.

That's bad business for a GSP fight. Don't think Dana is happy with those numbers.

I think he is fine with it. It's going to be tied for 2nd best this year or maybe a hair under. I think he will take it. I'm sure GSP's next fight will get a boost.

It's more a product of the ridiculously high PPV prices than anything else. People aren't going to shell out the big bucks for multiple UFC events a year, especially when few PPVs are padded with big names. It doesn't mean the people aren't watching. They're just finding alternatives... like chipping in as a group, hitting the pub, or illegally streaming.
You can have 15 friends chip in on an event. Still counts as only one PPV buy. But again, this is what happens when you're charging 65 dollars a pop, sometimes twice a month.

This one actually had a break in price(30% off) if you ordered on xbox. But that is only a small fraction of people that actually bought the event.

Like CP said, this is just the number of PPV buys, which is not a real reflection how many eyes were on the event.
How many people streamed? How many people went to Buffalo Wild Wings/Hooters, etc to watch? How many groups chipped in and watched?
Solid number, curious to see the numbers for next month's event.

Im sure the talk of the "Super fight" win or lose didn't help the cause as people could say they will wait...
Also as tough as Condit is, I don't think the "buying" public think/thought he posed much of a challenge, plus like others of said two nice guys don't sell the same as a Kos, Chael, Rampage fued...
Im sure his next fight if against SIlva or Diaz will draw big, Hendricks...could cause #'s to dip..unless the card receives a solid co-main

You know gsp is the man when being the second best card of the year is considered disappointing.

...I think Dana cared more about GSP's successful return and to defend the title in a serious battle with Condit. Zuffa & co. are well aware of the sick numbers Silva vs. GSP will rake in when they meet. The superfight will surpass all previous records having the #1 & #2 P4P fighters on the planet face off...
