I think Diaz takes it with his striking. I feel that Nate wasnt at the level he is now when they faught, and now Nate is near enough at Nick's level or above. I think Nick would be able to put Rory on the back foot and Rory would be predictable and desperate with his takedowns. Diaz would eventually start hammering into him on the cage in the second round and would have a HUGE win, although it's a massive risk for ANYONE to fight Rory.

I love how people say "it would go like Rory Nate".

That is such a lazy prediction. Nate has excelled since then, Ceasar said he has improved the most he ever seen anyone improve in 1 year. Nate is a 155er his whole career and didn't belong at 170, where as Nick has fought most all his career at 170.

If anyone wants to talk about "hype" lets talk about Rory's undeserved hype. He has beat no one. His best win may be Nate Diaz a 155er with no wrestling. Then he calls out Penn from retirement. Then he calls out the other Diaz because he thinks he can make a name off him and he can do the same as he did to his brother. He does nothing elite but somehow he is the future of MMA.

Rory is a pansy.

I hate the kid, but even against weak opponents he has skills that shine through regardless of who he is against. His hype is genuine and in the right place. No one is saying that he is deserving of a title shot, despite him pretty much being more impressive than Chris Weidman in all of his fights. He is seen as an up and comer still, and with a big win over BJ calls for title shot contention will be in place, which is just. He's then looking for Nick, who in many peoples eyes, including my own, is the best in the division that isn't the champ (or Condit, if you want to count that fight). He's not even asking for a title shot after the BJ fight, he's looking to earn his way up and BJ and Nick arent exactly push overs. I think everythings in the right place for him so far.

Nick Diaz is a 'favourable' match-up for no one. If Rory can get by Penn and Nick Diaz, then his hype and his name are more than merited. When did calling out tough, durable, and skilled opponents become something to scoff at? Heck, he didn't even call Diaz out. He was asked if he'd like to fight Nick, and he said 'yes'. I really don't get some of the reactions in this thread.

I also don't understand calling a professional fighter who has battered all of his opponents thus far a 'pansy'. This guy spent two rounds going toe-to-toe with Carlos Condit and getting the better of him on multiple occasions. Can anyone here make that claim?

Why does everyone remember Rory/Nate as being such a one-sided hammering? Apart from two pretty good throws Nate definitely didn't get beat up.

No he really isn't favorable for anyone.

But look what Rory is doing. Calling out big names who he believes he can beat. Penn was in retirement and has a shitty record as a WW. Hmmm why did he call him out? Because he figured it was an easy way to make a name for himself. Penn was focking retired and he called him out.

Now Diaz is one of the bigger names in MMA. He is a top 5 WW no doubt. Maybe top 3. It isn't an easy opponent. But he slammed his brother around. Nick lacks wrestling. It isn't an easy fight and I would pick Nick. But we can all see what he is trying to do here. And since when does a kid get to call his fights left and right? Someone needs to shut this goofball up, he is getting a big head.

He is being a pansy when it comes to UFC fighters. Why doesn't he relax and stop imagining all this publicity he will get for beating named guys. Him calling out little, old, washed up, retired Penn was a pansy move. Of course he knew Penn wouldn't decline unlike his hero. Was a pansy move in my book. Penn isn't even a top 10 WW. But he has a name.

Cheap.

He's excelled since because he's in the right weight class now, Rory is a monster and I think there's a lot of guys he'd man handle easily, Nick being one of them.

I'd rather see Stun-Gun/Diaz or Koscheck/Diaz though.

I know you and others would. Many here hate Nick so much that they are giddy at the thought of either wet blanketing him for 3 rounds.

I don't think Rory would pick up and slam Nick like he did Nate. Nate is a 155er. Nick is a 170, he is bigger, and stronger. He would play around more in Nick's guard when he takes it to the ground. Nick would mop him on the feet. It would go like most Diaz fights go vs. wrestlers. They mop up on the feet. They get taken down. If they can't manage to sub their opponent then they hope judges score more for dominating striking rather than top control off 1 TD with little offense after it. If Rory opened up like he usually does on the ground, I think Nick would find a way to sub him.

I want to see how Rory does in say a FX main event going 5 rounds. I wonder if he could finish or last for 5 rounds vs. Nick Diaz. I am bias but I would say no. We haven't seen his gas tank challenged since the Condit fight. So its hard to say.
