I doubt he's looking for that much, but that would be a fair enough purse for the two fighters put together. Its prob gona do 1.5 mil buys at least and that would be enough for the UFC to make a nice profit and pay those two guys 25 mil a piece

Not gonna lose heart over this, to me this looks like a classic high-and-low-meet-somewhere-in-the-middle haggle.
The demand is obviously excessive but I see where he's coming from. Whoever loses this fight loses a lot of mystique, even though they're losing to the guy that becomes consensus #1 p4p and MMA GOAT. Both guys are breadwinners and need to think about what they're putting on the line here.
I'd rather they get over it too and just duke it out to find out who really is the best, but they worked really really hard to get where they are and can't afford to throw it away for nothing.

He is presumably asking for 50 million just to hold Anderson down?
And if he does that, he will be considered the GOAT?
I say if he actually finishes Anderson, give the guy these 50 million with interests.
Make this a pre fight agreement just to spice things up.

Georges is an intelligent dude. I doubt he truly believes he'll get that kind of money. Either that or he doesn't want to fight Silva so is asking for ridiculous money.

^That's not intelligence, GSP is being as transparent as Mayweather was regarding the Pac fight.
I might start watching Pride again. Back then, the great fights happened in the tournaments because that was the next opponent. There wasnt any preferance or decisions, you faught them simply because that was who was next.
Like 60% of the reason I'm as big an MMA fan over boxing now is because what the UFC says goes, and they make the fights we want to see happen. If fighters start pulling this bullshit, I may aswell start watching XARM.

well, there's a difference between "fighters" and "GSP" or "A.SIlva"
it's definitely a "meet somewhere in the middle", classic negociation technique that actually has been proven to work.
He probably has something like 20Mil in his head and will try to settle for as close as 30 as possible.
The important part is the initiation and initial demand, if the UFC responds (likely by the negative), then they engage themselves to the negociation, which will make said negociation easier for GSP's part because of how he will have set the comfortable and workable $50M starting point of the talk. I can imagine the UFC offering 15M, then GSP going down for 40, the UFC offering 20ish, GSP going down for 35, UFC offering 25-30 and GSP saying "ok, I'll do it"
It'll still be 3 or 4 times the usual, and enough to last for a lifetime.

I hope no one didn't believe this, Mike Straka is a known GSP hater, this guy's basically a Sherdogger with credentials.

The main thing that jumped out at me from this article was the fact that GSP is potentially predicting only ten more fights in his career?!? If I'm not mistaken, what is he now, 30? He's just now reaching his physical prime. A man like George should be able to keep his spot on top till he's 40.
