Georges St-Pierre rumored to want $50 million from UFC to fight Anderson Silva

Quote:
The UFC will commence negotiations with both Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre in the coming weeks to put their superfight together, but they may have to start from a considerable distance apart from GSP. In addition to the weight concerns St-Pierre's camp has expressed, there may also be a considerable monetary difference between what the UFC wants to offer and what GSP will be asking.

Veteran reporter Mike Straka commented on the matter in a recent episode of The MMA Beat with Ariel Helwani, Luke Thomas, and Chuck Mindenhall, and citing a source close to St-Pierre, he said the Welterweight Champion will be asking for a considerable pay increase to take the fight.

"I was told by somebody very close to Georges that Georges today makes close to eight million dollars a fight," Straka said (transcribed by VendettaFighter.com). So to fight Anderson Silva, he's going to ask for fifty million dollars. Five-zero, because he said that Georges has ten fights left in his career, at eight million a fight."

"But he believes that Anderson could actually hurt him, could physically hurt him and end his career. So to take that chance he wants fifty million dollars, and that's exactly the number he's going to go to Dana White with."

Penick's Analysis: That's a starting point, obviously, and if it's what he's legitimately asking for the fight it's a hell of a starting point. That's unrealistic, though, and I don't see the UFC coming near that considering they'll also have to pay Silva a considerable amount. And this is obviously hearsay at the moment, and not out of St-Pierre's mouth or directly from his camp. But from a business standpoint the math wouldn't add up with what they'd bring in from pay-per-view and the live gate. The UFC may operate at a loss for this one just to make it happen, but more than likely they'll be coming at St-Pierre with a ten to fifteen million dollar payday at best. We'll see if this is another setback or hindrance to the fight happening, but he's not wrong in trying to get as much money as possible for the fight.

You can bet Anderson will want even more (he deserves more tbh). Doubt the UFC can put that together at this point.

The men who fought three times in one night didn't make 10 million, what GSP makes in endorsements alone. GSP has a lot to lose as does Anderson, much more than they did back in the old days when the money wasn't what it is today.

This article though has to be garbage, that or someone is talking out of their ass, really? 50 Million and you don't think Anderson Silva the biggest politician in MMA isn't gonna ask for as much if not more?

That's 100 million dollars at least for one fight and as big as it may be I doubt it eclipses the mark of Mayweather/De La Hoya, you're high if you think the UFC will pay 50 million to one fighter. If the fight happens they may get 15 million and even that may be pushing it.

Wow! You know that's the ultimate respect for Anderson cuz he's being truthful. He knows he's going into battle and most likely leaving on his shield.

Look at what Condit did from the bottom and what Anderson did to Chael from the bottom. He's very capable of hurting his opponents in every possible position known to man.

Funny thing is Anderson would probably do it for free just to test his skills. Cmon Georges...make the compromise.

Man I cant read this shit. I get 300euro on Tuesday. I plan to spend it all buying christmas presents for my family who have said they wont be buying anything in return this year. Then, i'm on 41euro a week. When my leg heals up, hopefully by Janurary, Ill be spending 40euro on martial arts a week, with 1euro spending money. 1 million to me is a lifetime achieveable goal, and these guys not only can pay for the best training camps on the planet, where as I settle for whatever I can get to, but they also want amounts of money that are enough for someone to life on for the rest of their existance, and their family too, EACH fight. Fuk this. If I was Pacquiao, I'd fight Mayweather for free because it's really a greatest of all time vs not greatest of all time fight. Pacquiao might well be the best, but unless he proves it he'll never make it to #1. Same with GSP. If GSP doesnt fight Anderson, there is NO chance, no matter who faces him, that he will become the greatest in his lifetime. Fighting Anderson, for him, should be the only thing on his mind. Who cares if he beats Hendricks or Diaz? I mean I'd LOVE the Nick fight to happen, but the win doesnt make him go ahead of Anderson, let alone Fedor. A fighters goal, from the outset, should be to become the greatest of all time. GSP has that oppertunity to achieve his only real goal, and if he passes it with bullshit like this, I cant now, or ever have respect for him. A fighters mission is to be the best fighter, as anybody in their trade. If someone is insecure about it, or is unwilling to prove it, they are no more worthy of that merit than I am.

That's nowadays reality, indeed. Understandable but not less frustrating and for that reason I shall endorse his nostalgic expression. So, lets hear it again for the old fighting days sake:
