Urijah Faber vs. Ivan Menjivar at UFC 156.

Quote:
A little over a week ago reports started surfacing that perennial contender Urijah Faber would return to action at UFC 156 against Vaughan Lee. The decision was widely criticized for being an extreme mismatch. With Lee struggling with a UFC record of 1-2 and his only win coming over a faded Kid Yamamoto, it's hard to argue that logic.

However, according to Tatame Faber won't be getting a lay up in his next fight. Instead he'll be facing Ivan Menjivar. The two first met 6 years ago at TKO 24: Eruption. Faber came out of the fight with the win after Menjivar was disqualified for landing an illegal kick to a downed opponent.

Menjivar is coming off a very impressive armbar victory over Azamat Gashimov at UFC 154. He 3-1 since debuting in the UFC at 129 with his only loss coming by decision to Mike Easton. Faber is coming off a decision loss to Renan Barao. They fought in the main event at UFC 149 for the interim Bantamweight title.

Much better than Faber vs. Vaughn Lee. Faber probably takes it though.

Yeah it's a much better fight. It's actually a very good fight. I think/hope Faber wins.

OH HELL!!! Lush fight, so epic if Menjivar wins.

Here is their first fight, where it looks like the 'illegal' headkick didn't even land. Soundtrack is rather intense.

Faber has it but I doubt he'll ever be a title holder.

Much better fight here. It kinda sucks for Faber because I see him as noting more as gatekeeper even if he wins. I just don"t see how he can beat Cruz or Barao.

Who really will? They are the top 2 by far, Faber is up there, then maybe Mayday. Other than that the division is weak.

Don't worry he will get a title shot at 125.

Or Frankie will beat Aldo. Aldo will move up. And then Faber will get a title shot at 145.

Better fight but a fight I have a hard time seeing Menjivar win.

Faber has been knocked out before but he still has a proven sturdy chin, and Menjivar doesn't really have big KO power. His wrestling isn't too good either.

MMAJunkie now says it's booked for 157, good deal if that's the case, 156 will be alright without it.
