Is it a problem the TV card looks as good (or better) as PPV?

So looking at UFC on Fox on Saturday, and UFC 155 at the end of the month. The best fight (Cain/JDS) belongs to the PPV, but overall, an argument can be made that the two cards are equal, or maybe the Fox one is more appealing. Is it a problem that a free TV card is just as good as a $55 show in the same month? Is it good the TV card is so good? Or bad as a slap in the face that people are paying $55 (or going to a bar, BWW, etc to see it) for something on the same level?

I think doing Bendo/Diaz, Shogun/Gustaffson, and Penn/Rory on a Fox show is a little much. I think January is the perfect formula where you have a big name in Rampage who won't move as much money anymore, and then you have the Flyweight Title fight that nobody would really pay for anyway.

I think Diaz/Bendo is easily the best fight on either card. We already seen JDS/Cain and it ended in a minute.

I'm not the UFC brass. I am sure they know what they are doing. But I think it is odd that they almost encourage people to be selective with PPVs and basically wait for real good free cards.

But I won't complain. I love that format. I simply buy the PPVs that are worth it. And I love being able to see title fights and legends on free TV.

FOX cards are more important right now when PPV. It may take away from PPV sales right now but theoretically it is going to help sales in the long run. They need these FOX numbers to be as big as possible to gain new fans and get more interest. It's important to the growth and the future of the UFC.
The idea is to get as many eyes as possible on guys like Nate Diaz so that next time he is on a PPV fans are saying, "I saw his last fight and it was great. I have to see this PPV".

I agree. DW was unhappy with the first couple of cards so he put together a card that he thought couldn't help but be exciting. And other than BJ Penn the LW division has never really sold PPV's, so putting it on a Fox card makes sense.

FOX cards are the ones that have the most eyes on them, so no, they should be working to get the entire sport on free TV since PPV is an out-dated model.

UFC 155 is still an excellent card but they can't help it Weidman got hurt, look at 156 though.

Aldo/Edgar
Reem/Bigfoot
Shad/Lil' Nog
Fitch/Maia
Benavidez/McCall

That's a very stacked card and the best of the upcoming cards.

Super Bowl card is probably the biggest event of the year. It's bigger then the end of year or begin of the year cards and it's a huge weekend for sports and gambling both. Super Bowl Weekend is a big, big deal here in the US.

I'm aware I live in the US but it's still a PPV card and it's stacked to hell and back and many people are gonna buy that card, it's better than FOX 5 imo, but that's mostly because Matt Brown is on FOX 5.

It's hard to keep track of who is in the US and who isn't on this board. I couldn't remember if you were so I through that out there. It's always a huge card and you can bank on some kind of injury hitting that card since it's 2 months out. So IMO it's a good thing they are stacking the crap out of it.
I was just pointing out that the Super Bowl weekend is the biggest PPV for the UFC just about every year.

They need to stack the Fox cards. That is such a great deal for them.

This card is the top one for me in a long time 3 main event worthy fights that could arguably headline a ppv.
