That's the sole reason Gilbert is considering a drop to FW, to avoid that conflict with Nate, but if Nate loses to Bendo, I think Gilbert will remain at LW.

I would rather him go down either way. FW could use someone like him and its going to be like Fitch/Kos. 2 top contenders dancing around each other.

Big surprise, I disagree with everything you said. The LW division is a shark tank and will devour Gil whole if he is dumb enough to test those waters. His wrestling is better than average but I think guys like Guida, Maynard, etc, would destroy him there. His striking is really poor, he would get lit up by pretty much anyone in the top 10.

Gil is probably really sad that he has to leave the pond to go into the ocean.

Anthony Pettis is going to need some better TDD before he is the best in a division dominated by wrestlers. Maynard, Edgar, Gil, etc. all handle Pettis pretty easily IMO.

Guida's not even there anymore and Gil and Clay already fought, Gil won, granted it was six years ago, but Gil has clearly improved more.

And the Lightweight division is not a shark tank it's just the only division that doesn't have a dominant champion, that doesn't make it deep or a shark tank or any such thing, after the top five guys(Ben, Nate, Anthony, Gray, and Donald) the drop off is pretty noticeable, and no one after that is a legit title contender.

Edgar doesn't fight at 155 anymore and Pettis' TDD has improved, he's traning with Ben Askren whose one of the best wrestlers in MMA and now he's out-wrestling guys now and knocking them out.

Mind you, he didn't need tdd when he put the current Lightweight Champ on highlight reels for the ages so that aspect is pretty over blown, he had a bad UFC debut but he's got over that and he's got better.

LL is a unique poster. He always talks in absolutes and with a 100% guarantee attitude. He has 20 favorite fighters and anytime one fights, he guarantees victory. He goes around making strong, bold claims....but I never see him eat crow afterwards.

Michael Chandler is the best LW on the planet? Are you serious?

Pettis is a beast...but geez lets see him actually fight a top guy in the UFC. He lost to Clay Guida. He beat Jeremey Stephens in a blah fight. And he head-kicked Joe Lauzon early...Lets not act like because he trains with Askren that he is now some beast of a wrestler. Kid has great potential but hasn't beat anyone in the UFC yet. Couple decent wins and he was held down by Guida where his amazing active guard could do nothing against him..

Yes Chandler right now is the best in the world, imo. Out of Ben Henderson, Michael Chandler, and Gilbert Melendez whose looked the most impressive in the last year?

Chandler easily, and he had to beat Eddie Alvarez in one of the best fights of the year to get there where many feel Melendez and Henderson lost their last fights, and honestly I'd take Chandler over both of those guys if he fought them.

I also don't understand why people constantly bring up the Guida fight, is Clay Guida the UFC Lightweight Champion? No, Ben Henderson is the same guy Pettis embarrassed. If it was easy to hold Pettis down then Ben would have done it back before Clay did but he couldn't, and there's a reason for that he's not on Pettis' level and yeah Guida may have beat him but every dog has his day as they say. Guida's not in the picture anymore, Ben is and when Pettis gets to the title shot he's gonna KO whoever's in his way.
