I don't really follow boxing but these guys are fighting for the fourth time and Manny has won all three already? I really don't get why they're fighting still. Is there no one else for Manny to fight?

That's why Manny received a lot of criticism for choosing to fight him again. Manny lost his belt in a controversial decision against Timothy Bradley, and Bradley called him out for a rematch but for some reason Manny decided to duck Bradley and fight Marquez again. I fail to see the logic in that.

First fight was a draw, next two were controversial decisions in Pacquiao's favor, and now they may fight for a fifth time, which would be pointless.

Pacquiao knew his toughest fight was Marquez (w/o May). Fighting Bradley again was correcting a fight he already won, but fighting Marquez was correcting a fight he should have lost. The Brad decision was a joke and no one took it seriously, but lots of people thought JMM won even all 3. Pac could have bounced back with a come forward fight like Ortiz and KOed him easily, but he chose the difficult fighter and showed a lot of intelligence and improvements. I dont see why he would have been critisied for that? Unlucky about what happened and congratz to JMM for finally sealing the W he deserved.

THIS. Co-sign 100%. There were more challenging fights he could have took, but Marquez was robbed in their last fight so I was happy to see him finally win even though I was against this fight from the start.

Who were the more challenging opponents? Pacquiao really struggled against Marquez and never looks as good against defensive counter punchers, like JMM and Bradley. Canelo, Ortiz, Berto etc. all would have probably been stopped against Pac.

If somebody is into boxing enough to pay $70+ to see PacMan fight, they aren't going to second guess ordering the boxing event because of a free UFC event. They will pay to see the boxing match live, and tivo the UFC, or catch a re-run of it.
Second to that, if somebody is a casual fan of both sports, or is on a budget, they are more likely to tune into a free event (bonus for having a belt on the line).

I agree with this. I stream all my boxing fights because I hat the way boxing is these days but I love the fact that UFC gave us a free card it was awesome and all the main fights were great.

That was the premise of the thread, this is actually the worst thing for the UFC at the moment because all the attention is on Boxing, the UFC seems to be an after-thought right now.
In the long run I guess it helps because Mayweather/Pacquiao is dead and not many people know about guys like Austin Trout and Andre Ward.
