Credit to Penn for being one heck of a punching bag. But that's no way to make a living. Go home to your family and call it a career (and a good one while you still can).
If only BJ would stick at LW, he wouldn't have these 3 brutal beatings on his record, or on his mind. 4 if you want to count the first GSP fight as well...
I have no idea why he's taking these fights at WW against much bigger guys, other than a quick payday. He pocketed 150k base salary against Diaz - still more than what a lot of guys are making. Either that, or he doesn't want to cut weight anymore. He came in at 168 against Rory - that tells me he didn't cut any weight for the fight. If you cut weight, you don't come in 2 pounds under -- you come right on target, or the 1 pound tolerance above weight. 168 is probably what he weighs before any cutting, so he just came to this fight "as is", against a guy who cuts nearly 30 pounds to make 170 (Rory weighs close to 200). As long as that fighter re-hydrates properly, that's a lot of weight and strength to overcome.
It's not as if the WW division is any easier than the LW division either, they are probably the 2 most stacked divisions right now.
Doesn't make sense to me - but I don't think he can take too many more of these beatings - not after his cryfest after the Diaz loss.
