How irritating is it to see FOX purposely cut away from offensive gestures on fights

I was real irritated to see the Bendo/Diaz fight cut away to the arena shot several times throughout the fight. At the time I didn't understand if it was a technical error or not, but come to find out they were cutting away Diaz giving Bendo the finger.

Here's an example of one of the shot's they cut away from:

Simply doesn't make any sense to me. This is an MMA fight, two guys in a cage trying to physically destroy their opponent by KO, Submission, any way possible and that's all well and good. But oh no, someone displays the middle finger, we can't have that! I mean that's just not wholesome family fun...

Does this mean if there was a damaging flurry that seriously impacted the outcome of the fight, yet a middle finger was present, they would just cut away? Imagine seeing two fighters square off, then they cut away, and come back to one of them seriously damaged or even knocked out. Really takes away from the action IMO.

Granted we didn't miss much with this particular incident, but if this is going to be standard procedure for FOX cards, might as well never put a Diaz brother on free TV..

thats just how it is. You dont throw middle fingers and you dont say F&%$ on tv. Don't blame fox, blame diaz for not being able to conduct himself professionally on national television.

They also cut the audio out repeatedly throughout the fight. I thought it was a technical error at first as well, until I saw the lips of a cornerman cussing at the exact same time the audio was off.

So I'm guessing it wasn't live then? Cuz they couldn't just cut away like that on live TV, it would have had to been filmed and edited, otherwise you'd need some serious anticipation powers and reflexes to just cut at those times.

In either case, for those of you who don't know the network gets fined for instances of vulgarity. Don't quote me on it, but it can cost the network up to $150,000 fine.

They didn't cut away on CTV Sportsnet, up here in Canada. They showed that exchange while I was watching. (and laughing) I'm thinking that CTV (among probably others) got the live feed, while other jurisdictions got a slightly delayed feed that was censored.

[Edit] I guess that explains why I see a lot of "delayed reaction" posts in the fight threads sometimes...

Are you familiar with a broadcast delay?

On a scale of 1/10..I'd rate it about a 1.

It's primetime national television.

I found it annoying, my Wife found it infuriating...lol. Laughably ironic as well, considering Fox airs such shows as American Horror Story and Always Sunny In Philly. Of course they are on FX I suppose. But still...

Dana has been quoted as saying - "FOX knew what they were getting when they entered the deal". So much for that.

But in the end it just a minor annoyance, and in no way diminished my enjoyment for an exciting night of fights.

It is what it is.
