Ben vs Nate - a trailer of what is going to happen with GSP vs Nick?

Nick and Nate have a similar fighting style. Same gym, same corner folks who keeps asking them to hit the other guy, same kind of boxing style, BJJ. We saw how Nate was dominated by Ben and Nate had nothing for Ben through the entire fight.

Adding to that, Nick has done pretty bad against good wrestlers like Koscheck and Sanchez. I dont see his fight with GSP going any differently. Apart from big money in the fight, from a pure fighting point of view, someone else in WW should be #1 contender. Like Hendricks. Making a fight just for the big bucks is not going to keep other fighters really motivated and i am afraid everyone is going to think that they need to get involved in unnecessary theatrics to get a title shot. Most might start talking trash in the hopes of getting a title shot.

Thoughts?

Nick never fought Koscheck as far as I can remember, don't you mean Sherk?

But I said in the thread where it was announced, GSP was probably the better athlete and as we just saw a good athlete can not just beat but dominate a Diaz brother, granted Nick is probably the better and unquestionably the more dangerous of the two Diaz brothers and this fight is personal so he may be able to get into Georges' head but I think it's very fair to suggest GSP could do to Nick what Ben did to Nate.

We are living in the athlete era of MMA and Georges is a better athlete than Nick, not that Nick is a shitty athlete he's a fantastic athlete but Georges is bigger, stronger, and faster and Ben was all of those over Nate and he cruised against him, I expect GSP to put a similar or more devastating beating on Nick.

... and with a toothpick in his mouth as well.

Benson won because he f***ed up Nate's lead leg and was much stronger in the clinch. If Georges wins, it will be because Nick won't be able to stop the double leg, and Georges is a way better grappler (I don't want to hear about it Diaz fans).

So I guess they'd lose for similar reasons (strength and explosiveness disadvantage), but it'll look different.

Diaz has a chance to pull something out oh his guard. Other than that, he's getting schooled. Clearly we're not expecting GSP to hang around 25 mins with his back against the cage eating shots right? GSP will press the action just as much as Nick does and beat him up while doing so.

If anything Bendo just gave the gameplan to GSP that he should follow. I am sure Jackson already had plans to use the leg kick, but seeing how well it works in action will probably make them double up on it in training.

Diaz boys, where you at?

How come GSP and Bendo are considered better athletes than the Diaz brothers? They don't even compete in triathlons. :p

They're better fighters and better MMA-athletes than the diaz brothers. On paper there are superior wrestlers than GSP, however he is clearly one of the best MMA wrestlers. Its about having abilities that have been properly adapted for MMA. Nick Diaz may be able to do better in a triathlon, however he is a severely inferior fighter.
