Rory vs GSP for the Welterweight title. Who ya got?

The fight that divided Canada

I know they've said they won't fight each other, but let's just say for arguments sake that Rory beats Condit in the rematch and Fitch or someone. GSP beats Nick Diaz, and then beats Hendricks.

Rory then decides he's going to call out George instead of moving to 185. Who wins? And how? Assume this fight happens in Spring of 2014.

I'm personally picking Rory. Kid is getting better each and every time he's out there and will know GSP very well by the time he's in there with him. He's also enormous and most likely won't respect GSP's power much at all. I think Rory will win the stand up, do enough to keep himself off his back for too long, and wear George down for a tough but well earned UD.

I would see George winning the initial fight by UD but it being very close. And Rory winning the inevitable rematch that would ensue shortly afterwards. Although I really don't see these two fighting each other based upon past interviews and the fact that they seem so close.

GSP would wipe the floor with him at this moment. One year from now, who knows, one can only speculate. Rory gets better with every appearance, but GSP is always on his game, you can count on that. If Rory doesn't get too ahead of himself I could see him as champ at one point, but he's gotta take things slow.

This is interesting to me because it largely resembles the Rashad/Jones situation years ago. Rashad was the top LHW while Jones was the hot new prospect early in his career looking great everytime he fights (well aside from the KO at the end from Condit obviously). Rory seems to be gaining alot of arrogance as well. Will he want to settle for being #2 to GSP in Canada forever? Or will he try to dethrone the golden boy? It's definitely an intriguing thought at least too me.

The similarities are there. Good looks, same kind of haircut, exceptional shape, succesful, dress rather formally etc.

Rory MacDonald=Patrick Bateman

Rory will turn coat and fight GSP when it suits him.

The difference in this case with the Jones-Rashad situation though is that the prospect here will get wrecked and be forced to move to MW.

Rory isn't nearly as talented as Jones, and GSP isn't nearly as shaky a champ as Rashad was.

This. Different situation. Its my belief that GSP wouldn't lose against any of the current WWs. Same with Silva at MW. Discount their abilities for a second and consider the mental factor. GSP has an aura about him inthe same way GSP and Silva, in that they seem invulnerable in their weight class. Silva destroys people, JBJ leads with elbows (lol), and GSP dominates.

I'd say GSP wins this year, next and the year after. Rory will keep improving no doubt. So will GSP.

GSP would school Rory at this point, 2 years down the road...who knows. Rory isn't an amazing technical wrestler like GSP is, he uses power to get people down while GSP is all technical, power and speed put together. Would Rory be even with GSP striking? who knows... GSP is again faster here and with the best jab in the WW division.

Either way, I don't see GSP having too much trouble taking Rory down. Would be hell of a fight though, a chess match.

I honestly don't take too much away from the Rory/Penn fight, yes he dominated him and probably could of had a finish in the second but Penn was done mid day through the first.

I would expect GSP to dominate the entire fight.
