I would say ppl go to great lenghts with this "excuse" matter. I totally deslike any Diaz, but the guy is just stating something that happened to him what happens to be the goal of any fighter: to hurt you to cause disability. It would be the same as saying that "Mike Lullo stating his legs were hurt by Barboza kicks and that decreased his performance" was an excuse.
I accept this will be an endless discussion, though.

I freakin' hate Diaz, but there's nothing at all wrong with that answer. No big deal. Does it even warrant discussing?

People need to learn the difference between 'reasons' and excuses.

The word "excuse" gets thrown around far too often.
Any injury, whether it's in training camp or in a fight, will impair your ability to perform at your best.
You lose strength, mobility and often it just plain hurts.
If you pull a hamstring you can't run as fast. Strain a shoulder muscle and you can't punch as hard.
Those aren't excuses; it's reality. It's biology. Injure a muscle, tendon or ligament and it doesn't perform as well.

Exactly how I see it.
It's not like he is making excuses here. He clearly admitted to Benson being the better fighter. I don't see how saying that a painful shot to the eye created problems for him.

Right, Nate gave a reason he lost. Blanket reason= Ben kicked his ass, detail of ass kicking = blurred vision from said ass kicking.
Not much to debate really..imo.
