Siver vs. Swanson
Quote:
The co-main event for the UFC's February 2013 return to London was announced Wednesday as Dennis Siver vs. Cub Swanson will meet in a match of emerging featherweight contenders.
The London show is the recently announced UFC on Fuel 7, headlined by interim Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao vs. Michael McDonald. The event will be on February 16 at Wembley Arena.
The 33-year-old Siver (21-8) recently made the drop to 145 pounds, making his featherweight debut with an April unanimous decision win over Diego Nunes. He returned to action at this past weekend's UFC on Fox 5 show, putting on a great performance in a unanimous decision victory over Nam Phan. A UFC fighter since April 2007, Siver is 6-1 in his last seven fights.
The 29-year-old Swanson (18-5) has been on a career resurgence since joining the UFC following a run in the WEC where the once 11-1 fighter became a win one, lose one fighter. Following a defeat to Ricardo Lamas in his Octagon debut, Swanson ripped through three straight wins in 2012 with stoppages in all of them.
He began the year in January with a second round TKO win over George Roop and followed that up with a second round TKO win over Ross Pearson. Then in September, he knocked out Charles Oliveira in just 2:40 of the first round to earn his second straight Knockout of the Night bonus.

As a HUGE Dennis Siver fan I cannot wait for this match. I think this will get Siver closer to a possible title fight with Aldo as I think he can take it. However, he has shown how heavy hitter at LW caused him problems. Either way should be a good fight.

I got Swanson in this. Lamp Dennis with a right at some point and either finish the fight or control it from there.

Awesome. Got tickets for the event, and it just keeps getting better. Couldn't have asked for a better card for my first live UFC. Barao vs McDonald, Siver vs Swanson, Manuwa vs Diabate, Riddle vs Mills, Nelson vs Edwards, Jimmo vs Te Huna, plus Etim and Sass. So awesome. Cannot wait!

To bad Edgar is taking the belt from Aldo.

I can see Siver getting a title shot if he wins this. Great fight.

I'm stoked for this fight, I was calling for it after Siver won, very tough to call but I'll go with Siver, between this and Barao/Mayday I have no idea what the FOTN will be but this is gonna be a sick card.

Not to get off track but based on what? Aldo will leg kick him into next month. Aldo is a bad match up for Frankie-his chin has been tested and failed him if Gray had better finishing skills, gas tank he would be the LW champ. Aldo has both in spades Frankie is going down.
I think if Siver uses his takedowns like he did against Phan I can see him winning this fight. He just had to pace himself.

I think Siver can beat Swanson but he'd get devoured by Aldo or Edgar. And I say this as a fan and fellow countryman.

Swanson has impressed the hell out of me as of late, seems like he's really coming into his own.
Cub via TKO.
