I agree with the above TBH. MMA math seems so simple but Hendricks won't have it that easy in this fight. Ellenberger will bring the pain (and hopefully a big gas tank as well).

I think Hendricks really earned the title shot against GSP. Why Ellenberger first?
Can someone explain me that because I don't know very much about Ellenberger.

Two wrestleboxers always make for an entertaining fight. I can't wait for three rounds of bad standup with a split decision at the end.

No. Nobody can, other than to say GSP asked for Diaz and that fight will more than likely sell more ppv buys than a fight with Hendricks would. That being said, Hendricks has earned his shot.
He isn't getting it though, regardless, so he needs to shut up and concentrate on ellenberger, who is by no means an easy fight.

I think your absolutely right and also don't think its a coincidence they gave him a wrestler, they just found the best mix of ranking, style and somebody who if they win could just slide into his #1 contender spot.

You know who else lost to Rick Story, Jake Ellenberger.
Martin Kampmann was right when he said Ellenberger has many holes in his game. He might be a "wrestler" but his wrestling is kind of terrible. He got swept by Rocha, Sanchez, and Condit he really isn't in the same league as the top wrestlers in the division (Hendricks, Koscheck, GSP, Pierce, Simpson, Fitch). And his conditioning is so bad he gassed against Kampmann in the first round, Hendricks is a tough out.

So they both lost to Story, not something I did not realize, really just pointing out that stylistically Ellenberger is a bad match up for Hendricks and a style of fighter he has shown the most difficulty with in the past.
Also saying guys like Condit swept him is a little misleading because what they did was threaten him with submissions and use that to force him to give up position, they took advantage of his BJJ inexperience.
We have seen Ellenberger tested more but that doesn't necessarily mean he is any worse especially if he can get his conditioning up to par.Hendricks is getting a lot of hype right now but its based on a couple flash knock outs one against a guy who kinda has a tendency to get knocked out. I remember thinking Kos won and thinking Kos looked like shit in that fight. Which of the fights when Hendricks actually spent some considerable amount of time in the cage left you so impressed?

It's a big "if" but if Nick pulls it off and takes the title, I reckon they'll almost certainly do an immediate rematch. I'd be laughing hard if GSP then came back and got the finish in a rematch, reigniting the Silva superfight talk, resulting in that match finally happening. All the while Hendricks is left to wait.

Why exactly is it funny to watch a deserving guy not get his shot? I think he'll lose and I don't care to see it but watching him miss out on his opportunity of a lifetime would not amuse or entertain me?
