If Edgar beats Aldo, next fight could be at 135lbs

Former UFC Lightweight champ Frankie Edgar gets a shot at Jose Aldo's Featherweight title at UFC 156 early next year. His trainer is claiming that if Edgar wins at 145lbs he'll cut down to 135lbs and go after the UFC Bantamweight title too.
And according to his trainer, Edgar has title ambitions in more than just the two divisions. Here's what Edgar's head trainer Mark Henry told MMA Weekly Radio (transcribed by MMA Mania):
"He is one of the best true pound-for-pound fighters that isn't afraid to go up in weight classes. He'll fight anybody anytime. Two weight classes up, one weight class up. For me, I'd love for him to take a shot, I mean, we definitely have to worry about Jose now, it's the only thing, that's our thing right now. But, I think he can be the first guy with three belts you know? I think if it's for history, I think if Frankie beats Jose, I think it's hard to deny that he is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world if he won three.
I think you can't deny him. I mean, Anderson (Silva) is so close to Jon Jones' weight, what are they, ten pounds difference? Frankie's fought guys that are way heavier than him. If Frankie was to go for two belts, three belts, I don't know how you can deny him. It's something special. You don't see something like that, I mean, nobody's ever done it and weight wise it could be done. So, of course, it's going to be in the conversation, something to throw around and talk about. Especially (for) greatness, you know? You can do something that nobody's done and make history, it's something you definitely talk about."

Well this is his manager talking and not Frankie. His manager seems to be caught up on the P4P thing, I'm not sure if Frankie feels the same way. I have no problems with Frankie cutting down to 135, as long as he can still perform at a high level. I do wonder though how much this guy really speaks for Frankie and how of this is his own dreams for Frankie.

It's all moot, Frankie won't get past Aldo. That would be something though to become the only person to win titles in 3 weight classes, but I can't see it happening realistically.

I am actually pretty sure he will get his titles. Aldo never impressed me, he wont be up to the challenge.

Doesn't have to, he can take the winner of Barao/Mcdonald. When it's all said and done Cruz is going to be out for two years.
I'd be so happy for Frankie Edgar to do what BJ Penn was to lazy to, win belts in three weight classes.

Aldo didn't quite look super against Florian, and Edgar is better than Kenny in every way so, take it for what it's worth.
Personally think Edgar should be the Lightweight Champ, believe he will be the Featherweight Champ, and with Cruz sidelined I think he could win the Bantamweight Title too. He's the shit and he's a warrior, little bastard ain't afraid of anybody.
