Bobby Voelker vs. Patrick Cote official for UFC 158, Ed Herman vs Jacare

Quote:
Former Strikeforce fighter Bobby Voelker (24-8 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will make his UFC debut this March when he takes on Patrick ‘The Predator” Cote (18-8 MMA, 5-8 UFC) at UFC 158 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Voelker is currently riding a three-fight win streak that includes a pair of second-round TKO’s over Roger Bowling in Strikeforce. Voelker, who went 4-1 under the Strikeforce banner, has not enetered the cage since his last victory in July of 2011.

Voelker now faces Cote, who recently announced on Twitter that he was dropping to the welterweight division, stating the following: “After a year of thinking and good talk with my coaches and [nutritionist, it's] time. My next fight will be at 170. Thanks for the support.”

Cote returned to the UFC this past July, where he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Cung Le at UFC 148. He most recently saw action at UFC 154 in Montreal, where he scored a win over Alessio Sakara, albeit by DQ. The victory marked his first in the promotion since a July 2008 split-decision win over Ricardo Almeida at UFC 86.

UFC 158 is set to go down March 16, 2013 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. The event is headlined by a welterweight title fight between champ Georges St.Pierre and his nemisis Nick Diaz.
Quote:
Strikeforce officials announced yesterday that current UFC middleweight Ed Herman (20-8 MMA, 7-5 UFC) will be heading to Strikeforce for the promotions final event to face former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (16-3 MMA, 6-1 SF) on the evening main-card.

Souza’s original opponent, Lorenz Larkin, was forced to withdraw from the bout after suffering a knee injury. Due to the short notice of Herman’s fight acceptance, the bout will be taking place at a 194-pound catchweight.

Herman most recently fought at UFC 150 in Denver where he suffered a decision loss to former Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields. However, Shields failed his post-fight drug test causing the decision to be overturned to a no-contest. Prior to the Shields bout, Herman had put together three straight wins, including victories over Kyle Noke, Clifford Starks and Tim Credeur.

Herman now faces “Jacare”, who has won two-straight fights since losing his title to Luke Rockhold in September of 2011. Back in March, Souza submitted Bristol Marunde with an arm-traingle choke and then most recently he KO’d Derek Brunson in 41 seconds at the Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman event in August.

“Strikeforce: Champions” takes place January 12 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. The main card airs on Showtime following the prelims which are set to air on Showtime Extreme.

Herman will be the first and last fighter to cross-over from the UFC to fight in Strikeforce. What do you think of the match-up Penn nation?

Not real sure about Voelker but Jacare should dominate. Herman is not that great.

Ed Herman vs. Jacare?

Seriously, do they have ambulances there? Will Jacare be punished if he hurts him badly or something? Come on now....

Ed Herman will wake up in the hospital.

Bad matchup Joe Silva.. Shields V Jacare would've been nice but I guess he's suspended.

Wow, this is likely Herman's biggest fight...he's doomed.
