It's ok for fighters personalities to be a contribution towards whether you like them or not, but it shouldn't be the deciding factor in it.

I could understand if Cain was a boring fighter in the cage, but he isn't, he's usually very exciting and delivers a relentless pace.

It's the same with guys like Nick Diaz. Sure he may come across as a bit of a dick head outside of the cage and what not, but when he actually goes out there and does his job, he delivers spectacular fights for the fans. Why can't everyone just respect him for that, regardless of his personality.

These guys are professional fighters, I decide who I root for based on how they perform inside the octagon, not what they say or do outside of it.

I respect Cain and I know he's a very talented fighter. But his personality is beyond dull so I don't feel the need to cheer for the guy. I don't hate him for it but if he was as entertaining outside the cage as in it I would probably want him to win. I cheer for JDS because on top of being a great fighter he seems to be a very nice and genuine person.

This article seems unnecessary. I don't see many people talk about Cain's standup in the leadup to this fight.

It's actually relevant, because people in the MMA media aren't allowed to speak about Cain's weaknesses for fear that they will scare away the potential windfall of the Latino market if he is champ again.

If he is billed as the weaker opponent, people won't tune in (especially the demographic mentioned) despite JDS being the more dominant and well-rounded fighter. Someone can quote me if i'm wrong, but Brazilian's don't pay for PPV, they have a channel to watch the fights on (may be a pay sports channel) but not the $50-60 that North American's pay.

If Cain is champ, the lower 48 and California pay $$$,

Most of the HC fans know that Cain should be looking for the TD and clinch but all the average fans seem to refer to Cain's boxing as elite when he lacks good defense. I was giving Cain way more of a shot a month ago but after re-watching a lot of his and Junior's fights I really think JDS finishes him by the second. The way Junior set up some of these KO's is another level over pretty much all of the HWs. JDS has good odds on him as well, this is just a nightmare stylistic match-up for Cain.

The article points out the flaws in his stand up, his next fight is against arguably the best boxer in the UFC, who already KO'ed him, very quickly. It's an interesting read and pretty insightful.
