What about most improved/breakthrough fighter of the year? A completely different category than fighter of the year in general.
Nate Diaz would be a good candidate for that. Seems like yesterday he was dropping decisions to guys like Joe Stevenson. Now he has become a true contender and has fought for the title. Tim Boetsch would also be a good choice.
