I doubt Tim gets a title shot.
The UFC is becoming more about marketing, with Edgar, Sonnen, and Diaz all getting title shots comin off of losses, it's clear that it doesn't matter who you beat anymore it matters how marketable you are. I like Boetsch and want him to do well. But he's quiet, balding, and looks and dresses like a farmer from the Ozarks.

Who cares if he got dominated for two rounds against Okami? He won via KO, and got through some serious obstacles to do so. That shows me more than if he had dominated him from the get go. That shows that he can fight against adversity, something not a lot of fighters can do.
His fight against Lombard was crap though... I bet both thought they were winning and were content to eek out a decision.

Sorry Timmy B that's not how the UFC does business these days. Try getting a couple gold teeth, a flame tattoo(Bam Bam Bigalow style) on your head and speak in 1st person. That will get you closer to a title shot then any KO ever will.

Yeah it's the increasingly annoying truth right now. Just ask Weidman, Hendricks and any LHW on the UFC roster. How sad is it when you see Chael Sonnen on FUEL and below his name it says "current #1 contender at LHW".

I find it a little heartbreaking that many of you thought the UFC was this ranking, fair, strict competition.
I feel bad for all you guys. Like when kids first learn of Santa being fake. Or when I was a lad and found out Pro Wrestling wasn't real.
Chin up fellas!

If you are referring to me, I certainly think it counts, but I also think that fight showed who the better fighter was and it wasn't Tim. And it's not like he was barely losing either. Okami was beating him like he had never fought before.

Not referring to anyone in particular, I've seen different posters in different threads refer to the Okami fight as an arguing point against a Timmy B title-shot. I see what you're getting at, but I don't agree. If the fight ends with one of the combatants unconscious then I don't see any way how the victor can't have been the better man on the night.

Well yeah that night Tim was better in the end. But overall I think Okami proved to be the more skilled fighter. But Tim definitely won the fight and I won't take it away from him. Nobody can. He beat Lombard as well. I just don't put him in that elite category.

I was so upset when I found out wrasslin wasn't real, LOL!
Rarely ever is the legitimacy / competitiveness of facebook, undercard and even most non-main event (or co-main event) fights questioned before hand. The fighters are all "middle of the road" so to speak, and have a legit chance of winning, no matter the vegas odds.
It's the number of idiotic title / main-card fights that have people up in arms recently. The GSP/Diaz one is the least of concern -- Diaz lost a close 3 round to 2 fight for the interim belt. I don't ever recall Hendricks/Kampmann being billed as a #1 contender fight, even if Hendricks is deserving of a shot. That said, GSP/Diaz is still an obvious questionable fight, but apparently it's the fight GSP wanted, and Dana would be more than happy to comply because he knows it will sell more than GSP/Hendricks. Hendricks doesn't have fans. Diaz does, and GSP has probably more fans than anyone. Silva/Bonnar was a joke, even though it was to save a card. Sonnen/JBJ is simply the most obvious disaster of them all. Sonnen talked his way into a rematch with Silva -- how in the hell did he manage to get a title shot in a division he's never even won a fight in?
The facebook, undercard and first few main-card fights will be where the real fights take place in the coming years. (co) main-event status has become more about what fights will sell the most, and not the best matchups.
