400 guys are on pot? lmao
I guess I'm really missing out on something because I just can't see the fascination with getting high but it's whatever, he may have a point. Guys shouldn't get clipped for a year for a plant that grows in the ground when they also get put out for a year because of a performance enhancing drug but he should work to fix that, obviously you can't come into a fight high but if a guy like Nick Diaz is chilling four weeks before a fight and gets high, who gives a shit? It's probably only a matter of time until it's legalized country wide anyway, should have been a long time ago but I believe in the next four years it will be legal and then Dana won't have to worry about this.

I'd have thought that you would have wanted Nick to get his legs cut off for such an offence
But I pretty much agree. If you come into the fight high, you should get a suspension (not an overturned result like Diaz/Gomi). If you smoke weed away from fight time, then you should get a fine (because it's still against the rules regardless and they should show more professionalism). To get like 6 months of your pro career taken away because you smoked a bit of weed is pretty ridiculous and they should really look over the severity of the situation.
Yours sincerley,
A Nick Diaz fan.

In the grand scheme of things six months isn't really that big of a deal. Look at Cain and Junior, it's December and the last time they fought was in May and they're healthy. It might suck for some guys who like to stay active but it's not the worst thing in the world, that said you shouldn't be suspended for it all.

Dana is full of shit, when they randomly tested the fighters for the all HW PPV, nobody got caught on MJ but two guys were above the allowed TRT levels.
Dana just wants to protect his roiders.

I also still firmly believe that MJ can aid some fighters. (dulls pain, for one. Heavy user here, too. It affects different people in different ways - it can't be pigeonholed like "it affects everyone exactly this way, every time, no exceptions". They should just have a stoner league. Diaz bros would be GOATs )

It also ****s up your reaction time, very dangerous in a fight!!!

Who was the other? Mir? I thought he was within the allowed limits.

Nobody fights high - I guarantee you even Nick Diaz doesn't.
Known regular smokers (Diaz, Rogan, Eddie Bravo) all smoke and then train. Seems to be very popular with BJJ guys. They say it puts them in a better state of mind, more focused, etc. I go to the gym high all the time. It actually made doing 45+ minutes of cardio bearable for me. Don't like it for any lifting though, so I do my 45-60 minutes of cardio, let the high wear down, then do some lifting. It's a good rhythm for my 3-4 workouts / week.
Personally - I think Dana is more worried about the public finding out how many guys are on 'roids. I don't even understand how guys like Overeem or anyone else get caught under the current system. They know exactly when the test is coming and they still can't cycle properly?

I'm not 100%, but if I'm right Diaz fought Gomi with a THC level of 175, where the limit for you to be breaking the rules is 15. I can't remember the article I read, but apparently there was no way that Diaz didn't fight Gomi without being baked.

Random in the sense that not every fighter on the card is tested.
Not random in the sense that if you get picked for testing, you're tested a couple weeks before the fight, or immediately after. You have a pretty good idea WHEN the test is coming, you just don't know IF you're being tested because not everyone on every card is tested. It would be a lot smarter to assume you are being tested every fight, and cycle earlier in the camp to ensure everything is out of your system 3 weeks before the fight.
I guess it's a gamble Overeem took, but seems like a stupid gamble considering who he is, the fact that he looks like he's on steroids, and the fact that he dodged tests earlier, etc.

This wasn't at a fight, it was at the pre fight press conference to promote the event a few months before it happened. Junior, Cain, Roy, Mir, and Bigfoot were all clean, Mir however was on TRT but he was within legal limits, none of them knew they'd be tested but Overeem knew at some point he'd have to take two tests but was never told when because of the funny business during the Brock fight with his test.
