Because the UFC prefers to milk people rather then putting on fights which should be taking place instead.

This should really be the end of the thread. GSP asked for it. Does anything else matter at all considering how reasonable the request is? GSP isn't asking for Serra - GSP 3.

If you, like many fans, believe Diaz won the fight vs Condit, then this fight is the fight "which should be taking place".

Who people believe won the Condit/Diaz fight does'nt matter. Diaz lost to Condit and Condit lost to GSP. The only person that should be fighting GSP next is the fighter who has earned it, currently this means it's Hendricks. Everyone else has to work their way back up to a title shot.

oh look, it's another one of these threads.
Out of all the questionable fights recently (Silva/Bonnar - yes I realize it was to save a card, but it was still an awful matchup, JBJ/Sonnen, etc) this is one you should be least worried about.
Diaz lost a very close 3-2 round fight, for the interim belt. If the judges scored it 3-2 for Diaz it wouldn't have been the worst judging decision ever. Some thought Diaz won it, and he was riding an 11 fight win streak before that. I know I wanted to see this fight before everything went to hell last year, and many other fans did to. Yes, money/PPV sales probably is playing a small part in this, but it's not as if Diaz is some nobody the UFC just picked up off the street.
Hendricks/Kampmann was not for an interim belt, and never billed as a #1 contender fight. Hendricks barely squeaked by Koscheck, somebody who GSP dominated twice.
Hendricks and a lot of his fans assumed that if he won, he was guaranteed a title shot. I don't recall anyone ever stating that.

Don't use MMA math.
Hendricks barely squeaked by Koscheck, in a very questionable split decision. GSP dominated Koscheck twice - therefore Hendricks should never fight GSP.
Again - don't use MMA math.

Hendricks is by far the #1 contender, Diaz isn't.

Who cares - GSP beats both Diaz and Hendricks anyways.
Fans wanted to see GSP/Diaz last year, and now they get their wish.
Hendricks is not ready for GSP, which was pretty evident in the Koscheck fight. GSP is going to leave both of them wondering what they could have done differently.
Hendricks gets one more fight under his belt and then he gets to get beaten by GSP. The order of these two fights makes no difference.

A brawl?
I'm afraid you're gonna be disappointed.
