Anyone else feel like...

Cain is a really small HW? The guy is closer to a Fedor physique than a GSP physique in my opinion. JDS weighed in around the same as Cain and looks absolutely shredded, while Cain looks noticeably pudgy around the waist:

I was wondering do you guys think he tries to keep around 240 to maintain speed? I feel like he could put on more muscle and not too be too bulky. If he lost some fat in the process his weight might not even change much overall. Clearly speed is one of Cain's greatest tools when grappling. So would the trade off for a bit more muscle and bit less fat ruin that?

On the flip side, could he make 205? I think there is easily a good 15-20 lbs of body fat on this guy, and that doesn't leave much at all to cut. Personally I think he would be more successful staying at HW; as we have seen in the past his speed is an enormous asset at HW.

Yeah it's crazy how much body fat he carries. He must have a horrible diet. Their is no other explanation for a guy so motivated as himself to carry that much extra fat.

I remember during the Lesnar/Velasquez primetime they showed Cain eating tacos and burritos during camp so I imagine his diet's not really that good.

Dolce might be able to get him down to 205.

Wow tacos and burritos during camp? I can understand indulging between fights, but that seems pretty lazy to be doing during a camp. I think Cain could lose 15 lbs of fat and gain 15 lbs of muscle and he would be better off. Just look at the core strength of JDS. I know technique plays a much bigger factor, but I can't help but think Cain isn't getting JDS to the mat.

It does seem lazy and pretty careless but it works, Cain has awesome cardio and he won that fight so we'll see what happens, I don't think his diet is the reason he lost the first time to Junior and I don't believe it'll be the reason he loses this time, for me Cain's main problem is the fact he's very, very hittable.

Cain isn't a small HW in my opinion, he's just not ripped. Being ripped or more ripped then your opponents means absolutely nothing in the cage.

I've always thought that he was kind of flabby. But if he can achieve so much at HW and that's where he's happy who am I to say anything. It's not like he's a horribly fat lump of sh** like Cole Konrad, and he's always had quality fights. If he loses this fight though, I could see him testing the LHW division.

He's a big guy, but he's in shape. You can be fit and fat at the same time.

And lots of super ripped guys gas out in the first round.

People having a problem with Cain's physique says a lot more about them than it does about Cain.

I wouldn't say I specialize in dieting, but I've really paid attention to this in addition to training. Genetics is the main thing followed by personal dieting, nutrition, and then of course training. I'm still amazed at how Roy has better conditioning than fighters who are are ripped. He's an anomaly. It should be studied in laboratories.
