How on earth could you have possibly scored that for Leben?

You can't but its more fun to hate the wrestler who despite only having 10 days to prepare executed his gameplan than blame the brawler who had all the preparation in the world and still could not stop it.

I may be a tad harsh on Brunson, and although I usually appreciate fighters who take up fights on short notice, Brunson should never have taken that fight knowing his cardio was subpar. He was on a two fight losing streak, and losing to Leben in his UFC debut would most definitely get him cut from the UFC. He should have known better. Whats the point of being a good company man and taking up short notice fights if he is gonna look horrible and negate all the good he has done in Dana's eyes? Look at what happened to DeMarques Johnson.
Good for Brunson that he got the win. Would prefer him to actually work on his cardio problems before he returns to the cage though. Middleweights shouldn't be struggling with cardios like heavyweights do. That fight against Leben could have given a conditioned middleweight a huge opportunity to rise up the ranks by dismantling Leben. Leben looked absolutely terrible.

Brunson likely took the fight because he was on a two fight skid and his being brought into the UFC was far from a forgone conclusion.

I don't know if you meant to say far from a foregone conclusion or it was actually a foregone conclusion. I guess you meant the latter. In that case, you raised a good point which I didn't actually consider. Makes a little more sense to me now as to why he took the fight.

Cain Velasquez
Overeem would most probably get the shot next if he wins against Bigfoot ( which he will ).
JDS
I say fight the winner of Struve/Hunt. The winner of that fight would probably be somewhere near the top 5. Struve would get a chance to prove whether he has improved or not, while JDS-Hunt would be what so many want to see.
Or Josh Barnett may be another option. (If Barnett wins his next fight on Jan 12)
Jim Miller
I really don't know who to match Miller up against. He loses against the elite, but manages to beat guys like Lauzon. Give him a fight against the loser of Pettis-Cerrone.
Another choice would be Dos Anjos. Dos Anjos looked like a beast against Bocek.
|
Miller should fight Melendez.

Derek Brunson
This guy needs to get cut by UFC, period.
Munoz-Brunson should happen. Munoz would beat this guy out of the UFC, while getting Munoz back on the win column.
Chris Leben
Leben should retire.

Why do you want Cain to beat up your gods?

Thank you.

It's MMA, if Leben wants to only stand and bang then he should do kickboxing.

I think Cain/Overeem (provided he wins) and JDS/Werdum 2 make the most sense. Then have the winners fight each other. If lightning strikes and Bigfoot beats Overeem, then do Cain/Werdum and JDS/Overeem.
Do Jim Miller vs. Pettis/Cerrone loser and Diaz vs. Lauzon. None of the guys scream "title shot" at the moment, so it's almost like doing fights to clear out the middle/upper pack of the division.

I'm not saying Leben won.
Neither guy 'won.'
Arguably, Brunson lost less.

I'd like to see Okami vs Shields, because I want to experience what a coma feels like. Belcher should fight Munoz, Miller fights the loser of Cerrone vs Pettis for next no 1 contender, Joe Lauzon vs anyone. Feed Duffman Pee Wee, have Overeem fight JDS next, regardless of the outcome of the Bigfoot fight, and give Big Country a shot at Cain.
