If Nick Diaz beats GSP...

Would you be accepting of a superfight with Anderson Silva? There was a lot of backlash when he called out Anderson before getting this title shot. People said he didn't deserve it and didn't want to see it. If he won the Welterweight Championship, do you think he'll have done enough to get the fight?

*Assume it's a non-title fight to avoid that conversation from popping off.

First off the odds of Nick beating GSP is almost slim to none. Having said that, should the unthinkable happen AND he felt retarded enough to challenge Silva then he would get an early retirement.

Silva is probably the worst possible opponent Nick could ever face. The only reason people were debating GSP vs AS was because of the X factor (GSP's Wrestling/Top control). Knowing that Nick would never take him down but stand and bang with him, Silva would literally kill Nick. Nevermind the size difference, Silva would put Nick into a career injury.

Retarded enough? Find a MW fighter who doesn't want to fight Silva, or a WW boxer who doesnt want to fight Mayweather. To be the best you have th beat the best.

But thats not the question anyways. Would you accept him as a worthy challenger to Anderson (again, lets keep all title talk out of it) if he beat GSP?

Yeah of course he'd be deserving if he beat GSP. It would look like Leben V Silva though.

Killz 01-12-2013 06:09 AM

Silva vs Diaz is not a super fight IMO... Just a fight.

if Diaz were to beat GSP though that would elevate him to a higher status. He wouldn't be allowed to fight Anderson before he defended it against Hendricks though, so if he was still champ after that defense he'd be even bigger and it would most certainly be a super fight.

Can't help but agree. Just another guy thrown at Silva for destruction. Then again GSP vs Silva barely interests me either so what do I know.

Agree as well. Otherwise Nick vs GSP would have to be considered a superfight right now, but the argument Nick doesn't even deserve the shot at GSP for his accomplishments is out there, in the first place

I think with Hell Frozen over and pig flying we all would have bigger concerns than UFC "superfights"

If he beat GSP and defended against Hendricks then yes it could be possible to market him against Silva but I just don't see it happening. The key argument against this is because he would not be a challenge to Silva. Silva is getting old yes but Diaz is not an exceptional fast nor does he threaten with takedowns.

We all know what happens to fighters foolish enough to stand and bang with Silva, and worst case scenario we get a silva vs maia II where he just lays on his butt every chance he gets and pleads for silva to come to the ground.

Knowing Nick's awesome IQ however, he would go in full retard ala Leben to prob get destroyed like Forrest and made to look like an utter fool. So stylistically it makes no sense. People who might argue he'll do it for a fat payday are only fooling themselves. If Diaz wins and defends the title he'll be raking in Champ level money, why would he want to get seriously ****ed up on a fight he can't and won't win?

Even if Diaz was crazy enough to just do it, Ceasar would have enough common sense to talk him out of it. Lastly since you keep persisting on this topic, could you outline WHY you think Diaz could pose a problem for Silva? It feels like you're thinking Diaz would molest Silva and I'd love to hear the logic behind your thinking.
