Anderson was put on his back and mounted by Travis Lutter, he dropped a round to Dan Henderson and then he dropped six rounds to Chael.

He struggles against grapplers, anyone who writes Weidman off would be a fool, he's got the skills to give him some trouble.

Some good points here. In my honest opinion though, I think Silva will retire undefeated in the UFC. I'm not going to break down why I think that. Its not the place. He's Anderson! Weidman definately has the tools to cause Silva some trouble, I just don't think he'd beat him.

BTW, I think Weidman gives a very realistic opinion on Bisping. If he survives first 2 rounds, he can out-point Belfort. On his way to a murder by Anderson. Spot on.

Weidman was outstruck by Demian Maia.

He struggles against bad strikers.

What a shock, here you go bringing up the Maia fight again, the same fight Weidman cut 32 lbs in 11 days for.

It's no secret he looked bad against Maia, he cut an insane amount of weight in a short amount of time, anyone would have looked bad if they had done that cut. He was basically lifeless after the first round and he toughed it up and still managed to get a victory in far from favorable circumstances.

No one performs poorly because of a strenuous weight cut. Don't be so naive.

You're right, but it's a cheap excuse.. he wasn't forced to take the fight, the fact remains he looked dreadful against Maia, but he sneaked the win so well done Weidman.

I'm well aware, no one made him take that fight but he took it and he made as much of it as he possibly could and ultimately pulled it, mental toughness is a must if you want to beat Anderson and the Maia fight showed he's got it.

I think Weidman has the best chance of beating Silva right now. But he needs to beat a real top guy first before fighting him. If not, and Anderson beats the crap out of him. All these same posters begging for Weidman are going to say he is a "can". Just like Cote was, Maia was, Thales Leites was etc...

I just want the fight to be legit..At least feel legit. I'm sorry, but Mark Munoz coming off elbow surgery looking fat and sloppy doesn't impress me.

Wow, that's some craziness right there.

First off, Weidman isn't on the same level as Chael for wrestling but his BJJ is levels above (non existent for Sonnen).

Secondly, you think he could easily win against 'arguably' the best fighter on the planet...

Weidman's striking is sub par and if he stands in front of Anderson for a second, he's going to be lit up. Weidman has a chance, but I'd say it's 1/10.

Everyone always builds up these contenders like they are the guys to dethrone the champ.... problem is when the cage closes, these guys get reality checks on how much better Anderson is then everyone else in the division.
