Akira vs. Robbie Peralta targeted for UFC on Fuel 9 in Sweden

Quote:
A featherweight bout originally expected to take place in February has been rescheduled for April as Akira Corassani (10-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Robbie Peralta (16-3 MMA, 2-0 UFC) have verbally agreed to face each other at UFC on FUEL TV 9.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today learned from sources close to the event that both fighters have agreed to the matchup.

Headlined by a light-heavyweight matchup between Alexander Gustafsson and Gegard Mousasi, UFC on FUEL TV 9 takes place April 6 event at Stockholm's Ericsson Globe Arena. The night's main card airs on FUEL TV following prelims on Facebook.

It's not clear where Corassani vs. Peralta will be placed on the lineup.

The fight originally was targeted for next month's UFC 156 event, but an illness forced Corassani to turn down the contest on the proposed date.

Corassani was a semifinalist on "The Ultimate Fighter 14," and he earned his way into the house with a first-round knockout of Brian Pearman. He then edged by Dustin Neace via majority decision. However, Dennis Bermudez submitted him in the semifinals.

Corassani was expected to fight at the TUF 14 Finale in late 2011 but withdrew from the contest due to an injury. He made his official UFC debut in September 2012 and earned a split-decision win over British scrapper Andy Ogle.

Meanwhile, Peralta returns to action after also fighting in September, when he earned an impressive 23-second knockout of Jason Young. After a UFC-debut win over Mike Lullo, the onetime Strikeforce fighter had earned a TKO win over Mackens Semerzier at UFC on FOX 1. However, the victory was overturned after a replay later showed that a headbutt, not a punch, dropped Semerzier. Regardless, he's undefeated in his past 10 fights.
