Bisping needs to become Lytle

I have been thinking (mostly laughing) about the fact that it is clear Bisping will probably never get a title shot. At least not against Anderson Silva. The quote in the official thread where someone said Bisping is

Quote:

Good, very good. But not great
There is a lot of truth there. While my blatant dislike and bias of Bisping probably makes people ignore my posts about him, I think he should accept his fate like Lytle did. Bisping can put on a lot of great fights, and if he finally accepts that he isn't going to 'earn' a title shot and instead go out in each fight and fight to just do that, fight. Bisping could win over more fans and probably put on more exciting fights.

Bisping has proven that he can hit hard (not ko hard, but still hard enough), he can wrestle, and he has stamina. If he just goes out and doesn't worry about winning or losing, instead just goes out to fight, the man could make more money in FOTN bonuses than he knows what to do with.

What do you guys think? Should Bisping try for another title contention fight or just fight to fight?

I've always said he puts on entertaining fights. He's come a long way from being the TUF winner and has done the best next to Griffin. Not going to count Serra's win cuz he knew his only chance was to go for broke. GSP made em pay the second time around with true technical prowess. Diaz has honourable mentions.

Bisping looked sharp (so did Vitor), sharper than before, he looked like he added lots of new tools to his arsenal, if these new skills come to maturation, he'll remain a legitimate contender.

Bisping is still top ten, I never viewed Lytle as such but I'm down to see Bisping fight Belcher, Lombard, Munoz, Rockhold, Boetsch and Jacare, those are all good fights and he's got a good chance at winning all of them, except for Jacare. I think he'd dig in that ass but otherwise, lots of good fights still out there for him and he could always fight guys like Rich, Wanderlei rematch, and maybe even 'Shad and Lyoto at 195.

Bisping has another run in him, one last try if you ask me. He's not getting any younger and at 33 he's slowly slipping out of his physical prime so I'd say it's fair to say that he will retire within 2 or 3 years. Might as well give it another shot.

How do you just become someone? Lytle has always been exciting. Lytle has a sick sub game as well. Lytle had a chin of steel.

Bisping isn't boring by any means. But he has none of those things.

Why would he "not try" for another title run? Just put on good fights and try to win. Bisping isn't a finisher. He beat Sonnen in my opinion. He doesn't do well vs. good strikers with power. But I don't understand why he would have to give up title shot hopes....and do what?

The goal is always to put on good fights.

I think the thing with Bisping is that he represents the commoner. I like his backstory how he was saying that he had to sleep in his car at one point in time. Big picture he's achieved a lot and the UFC will take care of em with a commentating job or an exec position representing the UK.

You know, some athletes are good, but unable to achieve greatness and that shows like everything else in life how ultra competitive it is. Then you see who sits at the top of the throne...that's when you gain new perspective. In order to become a contender you need to train and sacrifice your entire life to achieve that singular goal only to be swatted down by someone who wants it more, someone who is more skilled, and simply someone who is superior.

As someone who's been very competitive in all aspects of sports, games, business, I know the stakes...but being the WORLD'S GREATEST at something...I may never know. But hey Bisping gave it a shot and I do agree he can string another final run.

No way Bisping could ever be as awesome as Lytle. He cant be humble enough to ever do that. I hope he gets KOed a couple more times badly and that is the nail in the coffin. Hey i can dream.

I think skill set wise he's a top 5 MW. Sadly he has a chin that really does change things. I know you wern't making a direct comparison to Lytle, but he was able to slug it out and throw wild hooks because he could take a punch as well as anyone. If bisping were to stand and trade you Bisping haters would be loving life as I'm sure he'd be getting a few more KO losses. I think Bisping really knows his chin is his weakness as he really only ever throws straight punches and kicks.

What he needed to do imo was at least threaten with a takedown against Vitor. Even if he didn't get it, it would mean Vitor would have just one more thing to think about.

I think if Bisping uses his wrestling more in future fights he can at least decrease the chances of him eating a big punch and possibly get his shot at Anderson.

Rashad and Gray Maynard would like a word with you.
