UFC fans should expect big changes in how and where they get their content on various FOX platforms. According to a report by the Sports Business Journal's John Ourand, FOX is planning a number of changes to its channels and what content they carry.

First, FX is expected to exit the sports business entirely. The channel has not only carried UFC events, but college football as well. This change is expected for August. However, it's not clear whether 'The Ultimate Fighter', which currently airs on FX but can be viewed as entertainment programming, is moving and where it could potentially move to.

Second, Speed and FUEL will be rebranded FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2, respectively. According to previous reports late last year, Speed is to be rebranded as an all-sports network with live events and news in an attempt to compete with ESPN. The Sports Business Journal's report Monday indicates FOX filed a trademark application for a FOX Sport 2 logo with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in November of 2012.

While both will become all-sports networks, marquee programming is expected to first broadcast through FOX Sports 1. The changes to these channels are expected to kick off also around August, but no formal announcements have been made by FOX.

UFC content will continue to air on the various FOX Sports platforms, but the details of where and when are unknown at this time.

Fuel is currently in 37.6 million television homes while Speed is in 81 million homes. The report indicates FOX has had difficulty growing channels with niche brands and the rebranding is part of a larger effort to increase the audence by broadening the content offered.

Wow that's crazy. Interesting to see what makes it onto my cable package.

Wow...fox kind of screwed the ufc. Told them they would get Fox FX and Fuel. Losing the eyes on FX is kind important especially if FX2 is in as few homes as fuel. FX is a pretty crucial bridge between ppv and the network.

Looks like the channels effected will be Speed, FUEL and Fox Soccer? Looks like Fox Soccer will be like another version of FX? "General Entertainment"? and FUEL and SPEED will be national FOX Sports Channels? I dunno, that's how I read it atleast.

Currently we have Fox for the biggest shows, then FX is the middle programming and Fuel has by far the least available viewers.
So we still keep FOX as the big dog which if far biggest channel. We could lose out on the middle shows but the FUEL shows just got double the available audience. So if you average that all out, I dunno if i could call it a screw job. Considering the big dog FOX is unchanged and moving FUEL cards to a channel with double the viewers. Doesn't sound too bad to me.

It's supposed to be like ESPN from what I understand.

I don't know if there will be a FOX Sports News or something like Classic but that's the way I understand it. Not to mention you have regular FOX.

Meh, kind of stupid, considering how little homes get Fuel as opposed to FX. But on the other hand, Versus/NBC Sports was able to build itself up over time as a secondary channel, so I'm guessing that's the goal here with these secondary Fox channels. Still a bad move considering FX is in every cable package pretty much.

Man, more package changes... I guess I will have to see how bad the cable company is going to bend me over for a premium sports package.

That sucks. The UFC goes from being available in every home in the US (FX), to being available in less than half (Fuel and Speed). Granted, this could help the whole "watered down" effect that a small percentage of it's fans are always whining about, but it's more of a step backwards in trying to become the biggest sport in the world. It's not the UFC's fault that Fox is being dicks. But, it sucks for them and most fans.
