After Federal Income taxes (which a single male making around $80k would be in the 28% tax bracket), you actually end up with around $57K. Minus hospital expenses (X-rays alone could cost hundreds if not thousands, and if you needed to be hospitalized for evaluation longer than 1 night, you might get a heavy bill). Just walking into the ER for treatment is over $300 on the national average.

So say you're left with around $55k clear after the hospital and taxes. Hmmm. I make a lot more than that on my current job, so to me that wouldn't go far.

hell right now 55 a year for 30 minutes max worth of work.. Not bad give me a fight every 6 months I am making 6 figures.. since I am about to be married with 3 kids.. I'll get to keep more of it.. sop good for me.. I could be home ALOT with my family.. other then the training I could spend the rest of my time with my family train 6 hours a day at least half my family would be asleep and then I could spend the day with them.. Not a bad life if you actually like getting punched in the face... thats the only part that dose not appeal to me though I love the grappling and submission aspects.. though I guess for 6 figures I can learn to avoid punches

I don't get all this "I would fight for the money they get paid" comments. The fighters pay should be proportional to what they are and will bring in. If no one will pay to see you fight; then you are getting a present by getting paid 1K to get beat up. If you are matt hughes then you should be demanding more than 55K because your popularity is gynormous; and not getting paid what YOU ARE WORTH; would make the person paying you a cheapskate.

I am seriously in shock at reading all these comments about how people should be happy about getting paid $80K/fight. Sure if I were worth crap I'd be happy to get paid $80k for one fight. There is no way Chuck "the Iceman" liddell is worth crap; he'll be getting his 200-500K/fight soon if he stays at the top.

My point exactly. but liddell has made around 1 million dollars the past year, he has said so in an interview. not from dana, some from dana a lot from endorsements. and no source is exactly clear about the amount so just forget about how much they get paid.
