His lack of training and hardcore partying is a thing of the past, according to him

I don't see him being able to compete at 185 though. But he did say he was interested in fighting Silva...R.I.P Matt.
I love Matt Hughes...but Silva would knock him out. Matt doesn't have much of a chin, and Silva would definitely test it.

What are you smoking? And Hughes would not get knocked out. The fight would stay standing for about 5 seconds and Silva would be taken down and pounded out

Ya he'd get taken down and pounded out like everyone else he's fought right? I don't think Ive seen a fight where someone has been on top of Silva and actually passed his guard, let alone pound him out.

5 years is a long time in the fight biz, most careers arnt that long.
hughes will be on the last leg of his career but probably still around
liddell will also be on the last leg of his career
tito will be gone.
if crocop isnt champ i donno if he will be around (what do you have to accomplish if youve beat everyone but that champ, and you cant beat him)
franklin's career is young
anderson silva will still be around
tim sylivia is worthless, and i could care less about where he is
heres the most obvious one...randy couture will be gone
gsp is going to be around for a long long time.
sherk will probably be on the last leg of his career
fedor will still be eating human beings as a snack in between his dinner of raw steel, and a bear he killed with his bare hands.
rampage maybe the champ, hes pretty young as a fighter, and in 5 years he will only be better.

5 years is also much longer than 2 years, which is the question asked in the thread topic.

I think if any of them phase out its going to be Matt Hughes. The reason behind my logic isn't that Hughes is losing it over time, its the fact that the WW division is stacked beyond belief and the competition is getting better and better.
I don't think that Hughes will secure another title run unless he upsets GSP in their 3rd fight. There are to many up and comers and I think a majority of them could beat Hughes.
Among the list, the top guys coming in IMO.
Diego Sanchez (obvious)
Josh Koscheck
Jon Fitch (the dark horse of the division, I expect a title shot in his future if not a title run)
Thiago Alves (if he can overcome the substance issue)

I think Hughes could do fine if he would just get back to his roots and quit trying to stand with everybody.
