UFC's Dana White claims he nearly booked Fedor vs. Brock in Cowboys Stadium inj 2012

MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani spoke to UFC president Dana White at the media scrum following the post-fight press conference for UFC on Fox 6: Johnson vs. Dodson and White made a pair of interesting claims about Russia and the UFC.

First, White told Helwani he expects the UFC to debut in Russia this year.

Secondly he revealed that last year he had nearly booked Brock Lesnar vs. Fedor Emelianenko to fight in a UFC bout in Cowboys Stadium. Here are Helwani's tweets:

Dana just dropped an unbelievable story how they were thiiis close to coming to terms with Fedor on a deal to fight Brock at Cowboy Stadium

However, Fedor's dad died and then he said he was officially done. And then Brock said he was done. I can't do the story justice. Mind blown

Dana said when he told us the Brock meeting went horribly it actually went well! Why did he say that? Because he didn't want to tell us. :/

Btw, Dana thinks they will debut in Russia this year.

It's too bad it didn't happen. There was a small window where that fight had a lot have interest, which has since closed. The UFC can't let that slip away again with Anderson Silva vs JBJ/GSP.

"Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man."

This is talking about 2012 though, the window for that fight is no more gone now than it was then. Late 2009 was when this fight would of mattered....

Don't really know why they'd try it now especially in Cowboys Stadium, late 2009/early 2010 was the time to make this fight there with Brock coming off the Mir fight.

Pre-illness Brock would have smashed Fedor.

with Lesnars diverticulitis and Fedors epic fall from grace against high-level talent, the fight would've just been meaningless (well.....to me anyway). When Lesnar was champ and when Fedor was still relevant, this fight would've mattered.

Don't trust a word Dana says in the future about meetings, he lied and said it went horribly, and I know a lot of people on here took it for truth.

Please, that's a wet dream at best, really.

Fedor is better at everything MMA, Brock couldn't take a punch to save his life. If this fight happened in 07/08 like it should have, Fedor would have TKOd Brock in the first rd.

Get your head in the game.

Fedor was also better at everything over Brett Rogers and yet he got taken down and grounded and pounded and got his nose broke before he finally beat him.

He was also probably better than Bigfoot, but Bigfoot got him down, got on top of him and smashed him.

Pre-illness Brock would have mauled him on the ground.

Re-watch the Rogers fight, Fedor went for a sub and Brett got out. He never looked the same after coming to strikeforce, but once thing is for sure... Brock's only chance is gnp. Fedor has speed, striking, power, submissions and could beat Brock anywhere. Sorry, agree to disagree.

Shame what happened to his Father, even though the fight is irrelevant in today's terms, a crap load of people would watch that fight! That would probably be one of the top selling, if not the biggest PPV draw.
