The entire argument comes down to this, and I'm on your side. You can see AS two ways. 1) The MW champion 2) The greatest of all time.

5-0 in the UFC with one impressive win to me isn't enough to warrent you a shot at the best fighter ever. I kind of wish AS would vacate the title and just fight whoever he wants from now on because people dont even really remember that he has a title at this point.

True. Silva always plays his mind tricks, inside and outside the Octagon. In this case, it's on White. And if you think of it, he does Weidman a favor, because by denying him a shot, Weidman's stock will rise when more and more fans start to campaign for Weidman and spreading the buzz of Silva "ducking" him. They probably will fight eventually, Silva has always fought the opponent he was supposed to fight, so business-wise Silva's behaviour is a win-win situation for both fighters.

I'm sorry, but no. Then there will be the next guy who is THE guy, like it always has been before.

Yeah but cain defeated a legit opponent, CW has options vitor,chael,henderson,etc...but he wants to leap frog and call out the number one guy. I don't know who is more relevant in the mw division right now Okami or Munoz. I'm just gonna assume cw is looking for a pay day, SIlva would beat his ass easily. Btw 6 of those 9 wins are against guys nobody heard about who is Jesse Bongfeldt?

9 fights only doesn't mean he can't get a title shot.

It just means a guy with 9 fights isn't entitled to anything. Especially in fighting the best of all time. It shouldn't be so dramatic as if he is getting robbed of a shot if he doesn't get it right this second. He has been inactive and is currently hurt as well.

Brock got the shot because he was the biggest seller in UFC history. Cain got a shot because HW was thin as ****. So it isn't like your examples are totally similar. Neither of those guys were sitting on the bench with injury calling for title shots either.

Yeah i think some ppl are missing the point, i dont think most ppl think weidman NEEDS to beat all the other contenders to get a shot, by the standards UFC holds for title shots CW easily has the right to fight for the title with his recent run, even more so because the MW division is a messright now with no clear #1 contender so its far from a travesty if CW got a shot at the title

BUT at the same time its not as if hes done enough to start bitching about not getting the shot, see the difference? Yeah hes done enough in the division to fight AS but he hasnt done enough to act as if hes the clear #1 contender, that silva is ducking him, that its wrong to not give him the fight right now....seriously i was a big fan of CW, i remember after his first fight in the ufc i created a thread about him telling ppl to watch out for him, but hes being disrespectful not only to AS but many legends when he thinks his 2 wins over maia and munoz is something out of this world, he needs to learn his place

I tend to side with Silva's camp on this one. They have a great point: not very many people know Weidman. He's not a household name by any means and so even though he's talented there's not a lot to gain from the fight for Anderson. This sport is still a business and Andy's business is to make money and increase his worth. Weidman will get there soon though.

Weidman needs to stop whining and get some more wins. If he's so effing good, he shouldn't have a problem working through a few of the other top guys.

Who else was going to get the shot at that point?

Rockhold should really be attempting to unify the titles, just like Gilbert is.

I don't remember the division that long ago but silva would not have been the first in line and the point is that's rich to say an undefeated fighter who hasn
t been in trouble eber in a division where all other contenders besides arguably rockhold are on small winning streaks or losing streaks.
